RE: Week 40 - Commonwealth Games, Delhi, India

Hutch: "BEST doubles match in history! Paes/Bhupathi vs Ward/Goodall..never been so into a dubs match"

Bhupathi: "Yikes.. That was too close for comfort. Won a marathon against the English.. Semi final tomorrow against the Aussies. May go watch Robot."

Brilliant win after a dire day.

They lost, didn't they?

I blame Josh & James. Far too happy in defeat.

It's pretty sad that after starting off pretty irregular and unwieldy, the live scoring from Delhi has now 'improved' to the point where it is virtually non-existent. cry.gif

This deserves to go on both CWG threads ... reports from disappointed Indians on twitter that Fleming and Rae have knocked out Mirza and Paes. biggrinbiggrin I so didn't see that coming! An all-GB SF if so.

Confirmation that Colin & Joss won 5 & 4 - a twitter search for "Sania" produces some hilarious comments from disgruntled Indians, e.g.

"They should just put a scarecrow on court instead of Sania. Saala darr ke maare unforced error hi ho jaayega."

Well, we may be a bit rubbish at singles, men's doubles and women's doubles, but you can't beat the Brits at the Mixed. (responsible for our only successes at Wimbledon in the last 30 years too ... you can be sure that if mixed doubles was ranked, the LTA would include it in their top 100 totals wink)

SF: (3) Borwell/Skupski (ENG) v (1) Rodionova/Hanley (AUS)
SF: (4) Smith/Hutchins (ENG) v Rae/Fleming (SCO)

it's true, mixed doubles is where the true talent in tennis shines, the age old art of smacking the ball as hard as you can at the girl :)

Congrats at the Win tho, do both SF losers get a bronze or do they play off?

I KNEW you were going to say that.

Rodionova & Hanley beat Borwell & Skupski 6-4 3-6 7-6

So two medals guaranteed, either a silver and a bronze or a gold and a bronze.

Or a Silver and a Gold, just to complete the set!

No way. It clashes with the 15th and 16th place play-off in the over 90s mixed Bowls competition.

Ross has a big day tomorrow, he and Ken take on Bopanna/Devvarman in the semis of the men's doubles on Court 1 before he returns to play with Anna against Colin/Joss in the semis of the mixed NB 14:30 BST on Centre Court.

BBC red button coverage
0525-1030 & 1230-1800 TENNIS Men's and women's singles and doubles semi-finals

Slight possibility the evening session could be switched to freeview, but unless you have sky it has to watched online. Wonder if they will switch to Court 1 for the men's doubles...
