The bloody Balts continue to torment the Brits:  Lejnieks & Sakinis may be unranked, but they did for David & Sean by 3 & 4! bleh

On the good side, potentially for David, the no 2 seed has been replaced by a LL.

If he can beat Jordan Cox in R1, there is now noone else ranked in the top 800 in his quarter.

Jordan Cox is 18.  He was the Junior Wimbledon runner-up in 2009.  He has also won a Futures title in Korea in April earlier this year.

But Rice beat him 6-2 6-4 in March 2010.  In fact he's 0-3 vs Brits!  Evo & Bloomers have beaten him too.

Does that make him a Brit Bashee?

I think it'll need a few more losses that that before he becomes one of those. Still a long way from Ka Wing-Wong standard!

Jordan Cox has been Brit-bashed again smile.gif but a bad result for Sean cry.gif

L32: Sean Thornley WR 670 lost to Ruben Gonzales (PHI) WR 945 by 7-5 2-6 6-2 bleh
L32: (5) David Rice WR 491 beat Jordan Cox (USA) WR 537 by 4 & 4 smile.gif

L16: (5) David Rice WR 491 v Roman Recarte (VEN) WR 858

Dr No's quarter has opened up for him completely because the no. 2 seed was replaced by a lucky loser. smile.gif Recarte is 0-2 v Brits, having lost to Tom Burn in a Venezuelan Satellite back in 2003 and 0 & 5 to an 18-year-old Jamie Baker in other Venezuelan Satellite two years later.

Josh Goodall, Dan Cox and then Josh Milton each made back to back futures finals recently. Maybe its because of that but I almost "expect" Ricey to do the same!

I'm running on US Open time for BOTB purposes. It's easier to work when it's this quiet anyway. smile.gif

I see that all eight seeds have reached their appointed places in the QFs.  Is that some kind of record?

Ah, I see. If it wasn't for Santos-Gonzales beating Sousa, the SF would have gone by seeding too. Let's hope this trend continues through to the final. smile
