Yes pity. Kvitova may have been suffering from a lack of wins since Wimledon ( though some quite tight defeats ) but we do know she can raise her game in Grand Slams, not just at Wimbledon but in the US Open last year.
I can imagine if they were both playing near their best it would have been a really good match though you would have backed Kvitova to win. I had hoped for Bally that Kvitova would be a fair bit below her best given she hadn't been getting wins but looks like this was not the case.
But as wolf says, assuming Bally has indeed played well but lost, she can hopefully take that form on for the next two or three months to cap what has been a really great year for her.
From all accounts a very high quality match with Bally playing her absolute best and Kvitova regaining her Wimby form( smell an upset against Kim in next round given Kim's poor form so far ). Bally within touching distance of top 50 and will play two more tournament before Commonwealth games. Hopefully will snare sufficient points in the first one before Shrewsbury points comes off.
Chang has just lost spectacularly to Wozniacki, and Sevastova a set down against Kuznetsova so some of Bally's threats to the top 50 are falling to the wayside.
Sevastova lost a few minutes ago, and so too has Radwanska. However, Radwanska was beaten by Dominguez Lino who still remains a threat to Bally's top 50 position.
