Gah! I got so caught up watching Suart Lazarus Broad's heroics, I completely forgot about Laura's match. So, points defended, onward to qualification...
She was in a good position last year before nerves got to her. Surely it wont be a matter of nerves this time? Quite exciting to think shes 1 win away from her first GS MD away from Wimbledon - and its a match she has a good shot at winning.

What qualifier space would be best though?
Don't count your chickens.....but great result and I am very excited.....well done!
If relevant for Katie and/or Laura the most promising qualifier spots are I think against US Open virgins Chanelle Scheepers, Sophie Ferguson and Ksenia Pervak, along with a Q v Q. Alicia Molik is struggling at the moment, so would also be a reasonably good draw. However there are some very tough draws against the likes of Azarenka, Zvonareva and Pennetta
FQR : Laura Robson WR 228 vs (q17) Nuria Llagostera Vives (ESP ) WR 126
Llagostera Vives has today beaten Fedak 7 - 6 7 - 5. 30 yo, her ranking has varied a bit over the years and was as high as 35 in 2005. Recent form looks quite decent. Interestingly she beat Laura's victim of today, Manasieva, in the FQR of Wimbledon 7 - 6 6 - 4 before losing in R1 to Zvonoreva ( who did quite well I believe ) 6 - 4 6 - 1. Good results on clay since, but also acquited herself OK in Cincinatti and Montreal, beating the Americans Perry and King, WR 111 and 81 respectively, in qualifying and then the main draw in Cincy. Looks as if she will be a real test.
Laura herself does look in good form, though the poorer serving performance today would be a worry, and hopefully her and her coach can sort out what was in the main thing wrong today compared to vs Dokic, so that she can go into the match with as much confidence in her whole game as possible.

Will definitely be the underdog against Vives so any talk of qualifier spots is a bit premature. Given what happened last year this is a huge hurdle to overcome. The scoreline today could have been alot tighter as well. Serving badly down on yesterday but must have been clearly the better player during the rallies against a consistent if not special player.
I believe Laura has been working very hard on her fitness, lots of long runs and sprinting sessions with Matt 'Treacle' Little. Seems to be paying off judging from her first two matches.
I see the FQR being a three setter with hopefully Robbo coming out on top.
