34 bps, 6 breaks each, both won half the points on the other's serve with 35% more points played in LDL's service games than Heather's. Heather leads the points 90-89, can she recover again?
Steve, 23 points more played on Heather's serve. I assure you being here all through, Heather has had the longer sevice games in total.
Oops, you can tell I haven't been - I was lookng at the receving points won line Either way round, that's a crazy difference isn't it. This must be quite a match to watch!
I haven't given up on Heather's powers of recovery yet, but she really is drinking in the last chance saloon now.

Very disappointing and certainly frustrating at the end, for I am sure this is a match Heather will feel she could have won. Be interesting to hear her thoughts.
I do feel though that some folk are being a little hard. Maybe could be hard on her for not winning more points on service but boy does it appear she battled, particularly in the first half of the match and I reckon all through, just there was a bit of a swing on who won the vital points.
Anyway, for anyone not with the whole match don't be fooled into thinking from the scoreline that there was any particular seachange ( well only on who more won the vital points ), or that Heather was ever really in great control, this was a tough one all through, most certainly including the first set which Heather woin 6 - 2 after going an early break down.
In the first set she won a whole load of close competitive games, particularly on her own serve. In that set she lost an early BP to go a break down but then saved 7 more during many long games. In that first set they had 4 service games each, LDL' s had a total of 22 points in them, Heather's 41 ( an average of over 10 a game ) yet she held all after her first service game. As I indicated she saved 7 / 8 BPs, she also took all 3 BP chances she was given.
In the second set she saved another 4 BPs in her first service game ( to actually win her 7th game in a row ) and finally lost the second of two BPs in game 3 ( after saving the previous 12 ) to go 2 - 1 down. From 5 - 2 and two breaks down she fought back to 5 - 4 and 40 - 0 up LDL's serve. Unfortunately, in what may have in retrospect been the vital game of the match, instead of Heather getting back from two breaks down to 5 - 5, LDL held to win the set 6 -4.
In the third set there were again many quite long games, but with a big change from early on LDL winning most of the clutch points and reached 5 - 3 up with two breaks to one break of service, Heather having got the first break back to limmediately lose it again. Sadly LDL broke again, this time easily ( I think to love ) in no doubt the shortest of all Heather's service games to win the match.
Anyway, having lived through it ( by livescore ! ) I just thought I'd lay down my impressions which seem to vary a bit from some ( some but not all of whom may have missed and not realised how competitive the first set was ) of what seemed to me a hugely competitive match throughout with the key thing a real change in who won the big points, with one really big game lost from 4 - 5 * 40 - 0 in the 2nd set.
I am sure Heather would have wanted to serve much better and will probably bemoan that, although those of us who do follow through many of the women's matches will have seen plenty when the serve from neither player has seemed any particular advanatage. So I am sometimes surprised by those who find such surprise at fluctuating breaks.
As speculated during it by myself and Phil, I think it's very possible the prevailing conditions ( probably quite heavy ) did not suit Heather comparative to her opponent and if so that's unfortunate.
Still, as they say, hopefully a learning experience. But still a huge pity she couldn't get the win and these 40 points and even more importantly a chance to proceed maybe more than one further round.
Hmm, I do rattle on once I get going, but anyway...

The only thing I would add is that in the first set Heather won all the tough games which must be mentally draining and so to sustain that throughout the whole match would have been a huge ask. I do think that overall Lino must have just outlasted her as the match wore on. It did appear that the points were long and probably draining and so with the heavy conditions Heather was going to suffer against a wily opponent more suited to these slower conditions.
