R1: THORNLEY, Sean (GBR) 7 WR 648 v (Q) HOCHWALT, Tyler (USA) WR 1766 R1: RICE, David (GBR) 2 WR 497 v SUPAN, Matias (ARG) UNR
Rice's first real test should come in the QF when he's due to meet the 5th seed Nima Roshan, although he lost to Edward Corrie back in June, so anything less than a SF would be a big disappointment.
About 2400 m / 8000 ft - bit higher than Mexico City, so there must be an altitude effect, but not quite as high up as places like Quito in Ecuador and La Paz in Bolivia.

Good stuff from David. With points to defend next month from his futures finals in Wrexham and Nottingham last September, winning the title here would substitute nicely and certainly looks to have a good opportunity to reach the final.
And still go and get good futures points again next month and he could be up overall
SF: (2) David Rice WR 495 beat Olivier Sajous (HAI) WR 858 by 5-7 6-2 6-4
FI: (2) David Rice WR 495 (CH 456 in Jul 10) v (4) Cesar Ramirez (MEX) WR 531 (CH 449 in Oct 09)
So as in Poland, a Final between two players with similar rankings and similar CHs! Ramirez has never played a Brit in singles, but with Elizondo he knocked out Dr No and Sean in the doubles semis this week and ended up winning the title.
