Well Dan certainly better improve greatly on the last month or two or it's going to be bye bye quite soon.

Jonny Marray teams up with the American with the funky racket and jump serve, Brian Battistone, here in the doubles.

QR1: Dan Smethurst beat BYE 6-3 4-6 7-6(3)

It was tight, but Dan's extra speed around the court told in the end

Just lucky the result came through so quickly that it saved you possibly putting on that bet.

Thanks for posting the link, wolf. An interesting read from a guy from my neck of the woods.wink I hope it works out well for him when he links up, once more, with Delgo.

there are live scores available for this event.

however not good news,
smethurst trails 6-2 *3-2 having been broken 5 times. saving 0/5 break points.

It's a real pity since Dan started the year looking pretty good.

He's going to drop about 50 places in the rankings this week since he was defending 17 points from a Belgium futures title last year.  Just leaves 7 GB men in the top 400.

So Draper's master plan is paying off then...he needs to get out.

It is so obvious he is now focussing on the younger guys....but 3 years ago it was this crop that was going to bear fruit !
