Week 33 Futures - Poland F5 ($15k) - Olsztyn (Clay)

(6) Alexander Slabinsky (GBR) WR 565 vs. (Q) Pawel Kur (POL) UNR
(4) Daniel Cox (GBR) WR 485 vs. (Q) Robert Godlewski (POL) WR 1521
Andrew Gregory (GBR) WR 823 vs. Igor Bujdo (POL) WR 1153

Pretty nice draws - Slabba would play another Polish Q in R2, while Coxy wouldn't play anyone inside the top 1000 either. Hopefully Gregory can get his first point as a Brit here!

Odd that he's playing here and not in Spain, like he usually does when he plays on red clay. Not a tough draw, this, but Cox hasn't played on red clay for a while.

Are Cox and Slabba the new Nestor and Zimonjic?

R16: (6) Alexander Slabinsky (GBR) WR 565 vs. (Q) Dawid Celt (POL) WR 1521

Andrew Gregory's match is listed as 'to finish' on tomorrow's OOP, but with no score. All three are playing singles at some point tomorrow, with Cox & Slabba also playing their doubles QF.

Andrew Gregory just lost his match 1/6 7/5 5/7.     Numerous rain delays yesterday started at 11 am finished at 9 pm.

Oh dear, 3 Brits all losing to lower-ranked players on the same day here and of 5 official (i.e. not Konta) Brits seeded this week (Murray, Broady, Cox, Slabba, Milton), only Muzza has made it to the QFs. Ugly cry.gif

It's okay. Playing on clay after so many weeks (or in Slabba's case, a few weeks) of fast court tennis is not easy.
