Much better from Ms Dean after last weeks surprise exit. I wouldn't be surprised if which side of the line the serve is landing is a big factor in her matches at the moment - I don't see the majority of players in a G4 returning many serves at the speed she hits them.

The girl who Katy played is a 1997 girl - could be a prodigy, though I have never heard of her before. Katy and Eleanor appear to be teaming up in doubles, though the ITF site just has a Franco-Greek combination as top seeds and Eleanor/Katy as second seeds with no other competitors at present - which would make a short tournamentsmile

R2

Loes Janssen (NED) v Eleanor Dean (GBR)

That's one way to make a final

The spoilsports have found 14 other pairs prepared to play so Katy and Eleanor will have to win the hard waywink

Kyria is teaming up with a german girl, Werner. Her best results have been in doubles, reaching a G5 final last month and iirc has had some LTA doubles success. I wouldn't put it past her to do well in this G4.

R2

Eleanor Dean (GBR) d. Loes Janssen (NED) 6-1 6-2

QF

(1) Marine Partaud (FRA) v Eleanor Dean (GBR)

The French top seed has won 2 of her last 3 tournaments so should be a stiffer test. All 4 Brits progressed to their respective doubles quarters - Katy & Eleanor comfortably, while Kyria and Jack needed extended match tiebreaks

Sadly Jack and partner added to the list of retirements (which also included Kyria's team). Eleanor's next opponent is the twin of Katy's conqueror

SFs:

Eleanor Dean (GBR) d. (Q) Tayisiya Morderger (GER) 7-6(5) 4-6 7-5

Final

Eleanor Dean (GBR) v (2) Katharina Lehnert (GER)

The German twins look as if they must be useful to have such good results against both Katy and Eleanor as 13 year olds

Doubles SF

(2) Dean (GBR) / Dunne (GBR) d. (3) Limanskaya (RUS) / Shulzhanok (BLR) 6-4 0-6 [10-8]

Final

Lehnert (GER) / Loebel (GER) v (2) Dean (GBR) / Dunne (GBR)
