Really good win for Jamie, his best win of the year in terms of ranking position of his opponent and a very convincing one as well. Hopefully he can now push on as last week he managed to get an excellent win over Ouanna before going down to G. Lapentti. Hopefully he can get to his first Challenger QF since late 2007 I believe!

L16: Jamie Baker vs. Robert Farrah WR 235

You'd think this would be a winnable match for Jamie but if you dig deeper i fear the worst.

Farrah went through the American Uni system helping his team win the NCAA championships in 2009 and 2010 he has only played 5 tournaments this year and only has 5 tournaments on his best 18, of these he has won 3 of them (inc. 125,000 Bogota 2 Challenger on clay) whilst the other 2 were futures on hard without losing a set both times. Of the two tournaments he hasn't won one was due to him retiring in a future in the 3rd set having won the 1st set 6-1 the other was him losing in the semis of Campos De Jordao in 3 sets to Van Der Merwe. I personally would be really, really pleased if Jamie managed to win this one

Certainly a tough second round for Jamie, Farah has returned to pro tennis with a bang having not played between July 2006 and June this year. In his 'first' career he managed a single Futures SF (with an overall record of 11-25) and 2 wins at Challenger level (1 through a retirement) with a CH of 625. Since coming back he has obviously turned things around brilliantly and currently sits at a CH of 235 and has beaten G. Lapentti, Capdeville and Salamanca. One shred of hope is that he has not beaten anyone ranked as highly as Jamie on a hardcourt, his best win coming against Facundo Bagnis then WR 250 (Jamie is currently WR 249) wink

Much tougher second round than first - why me must always try to look 'beyond the rankings'

Jamie is first on court at 10.30 local (2.30pm UK)

Ha, as was said,  Farah on his return hasn't beaten a player of Jamie's rank on a hard court.

In his most recent tournament, semi of challenger on hard, he didn't win his two matches against WRS 250 and 256 easily ( three sets for one and a tiebreak involved in the other ) and heck, lost to WR 263 in 3 sets in his semi.

His only other wins against top 300 players ( WRs 169, 191 and 241 ) were in his challenger title win on clay.

So, WR 249 on hard, maybe a step too far.

Straws at clutching   !    smile

Poor Jamie, just when he could really do with getting a good haul of points.  But he has been showing signs of better form so we can only hope...

No....Someone posted that Baker was on half two our time, it is now twenty past 3.

I don't get access to gambling sites at work which sometimes provide livescore (ala Jamie's match on Monday) hence why i was asking what the score was.

So could someone let me know the score please, or if he isn't on livescore let me know so i won't ask the score again...Simples wink

Bet365 are providing live scores for the centre court only, and as Jamie is on Court 1, we won't have access via them. I don't know if other sites are providing scores. However, I'm hoping that they will Tweet scores.
