Week 32 - Challenger ($50k) - Binghamton, USA

QR1: (q3) Richard Bloomfield WR 287 v Jared Easton (AUS) WR 783

On the face of it a godo match for Richard - Easton has been in a rut of late and hasn't won a match since March. Easton does however lead the H2H 1-0 and has a 2-0 record against Brits.

The other seed in the section is Luka Grecorg WR 363

Edit: changed thread title to correct the spelling of Binghamton (as usual wink)

So James Ward should have just snuck into the main draw as the last entry then.

Tournament Website

And indeed James gets a plug on the website -
"James Ward practice partner to Rafael Nadal in 2009, 6 straight weeks of improved rankings, has reached the quarterfinals at this weeks Vancouver BC Challenger after qualifying."

Richard will play approx 13.00 ( 18.00 bst)

Not too sure he has as Bogomolov Jr. is top seed in qualifying and is ranked 244, higher than James.

I'm not too sure either. Surely he should be 3rd seed in qualifying, just ahead of Bloomers. Maybe he's received a WC?

Well why would the website publish it if he was not there?

The website doesn't say that he is in the main draw, but that he is in qualifying. Given that the qualifying draw is already out, I would suggest that the website was either updated a few days ago before Wardy reached the quarters of Vancouver or that he has received a wildcard into the main draw.

MTF says he is in - Bogomolov didn't appear on the original entry list

Bogomolov Jr was obviously a late entry as he was not on the Alt list so that would make James last into the main draw

Bloomers match will end fairly soon. He won the first set 6-1 and is 4-0 up in the second, and serving.

Edit: Make that 5-0.

Bloomers through to QR2, with a rapid fire match lasting just over 50 minutes. 6-1 6-0.smile

It looks like he'll be playing WR 691 Adam Feeney in QR2, who is currently 5-0 up in the first set. His opponent has won just 4 points so far, so I don't see a comeback on the cards.

And it will be Feeney who won 6-0 6-0 for the loss of just 17 points.

Yes Adam Feeney it is, who went one better than Richard with 2 bagels

9 Ozzies in this qualifying draw, I think that the Australian federation must have sponsored all this effort.

R32: James Ward WR 283 v (1) Brian Dabul (ARG) WR 91

Ouch! bleh Although on the upside Ward does lead the H2H 1-0 after beating the Argentine in the R32 of the Savannah Challenger this year on clay by 3 & 1. Here is hoping for a 5th top 100 scalp this year for James!
