2010 TORONTO MASTERS BOTB - DAY 6 'SYNDICATED' REPORT
The 2009 Canada Masters winner and the 2007 runner-up will meet in the 2010 Final after 21% pick Muzza upset 60% pick Rafa to hold onto the world no. 4 spot and 50% pick Fed saw off 35% pick Nole to regain the world no. 2 spot from him.
Their unwavering faith in Muzza (all 7 of them went for him to reach the Final) and their preference for Fed over the rest of the top three has helped BBC 606 to win the 2010 Toronto BOTB teams title, a rise of 5 places on Saturday completing a 2-day rise of 11 places that started just one place away from the lanterne rouge!
R1 winners the Dammitaires moved up 1 to 3rd and will stay there whatever happens in the Final, but the runner-up spot is up for grabs between the forums of the two finalists. AM.com, up 1 to 2nd after the SFs, will stay there if their man wins the Final, in which case the Feddies, up 6 to 7th, will drop back down 6 to last again. However, if Roger wins the Final, his team will finish move up another 5 to complete their own 2-day rise of 11 places to 2nd. In that case MTL, down 1 to 13th after the SFs, will finish with the lanterne rouge.
The biggest fallers of the day were world no. 1 team TAT, who fells 5 to 10th mainly due to Rafa's loss.
INDIVIDUALS AND OUTLOOK
airsmashers (BT) held onto his lead through the SFs after getting both of them right and now leads by a point from jadesa (TA), up 2 to 2nd. These will be the final top two if Muzza retains the title, with TimMadigan (CC), up 10 to 5th on Saturday, ManOfJJelly (BB), up 25 to 9=, and Sound (AM), up 33 to 12th, completing the top 5 in that case.
Conversely, t_torres (VB), up 3 to 3rd after the SFs, HoodMan (RF), up 6 to 4th, qczi (MT), up 18 to 6th, sparkey (GB), up 19 to 7th, and Shabba (IN), up 25 to 9=, will fill the final top five places if Fed wins.
Imoen (BT), down 6 to 8th, was the only entrant who managed to hold onto a top 10 place without getting both finalists correct (she would actually have won the title had Rafa met Fed in the Final and beaten him) but she will drop out of the top 15 whoever wins the Final.
ON THE RISE
27 entrants got both finalists correct, including 9 of the new top 10 (see above), but only J. Alfred Prufrock (Mrs) (BB), up 109 to 78th, bagou (RG), up 112 to 84th, and Austin (AM), up 111 to 99th, rose more than 100 places as a result.
DODGY DROPPERS
106 entrants failed to score from the SFs, including Miles (TA), who had been in 4th place but fell to 49th, and early leader Pabbers (AM), who fell 52 to 60th.
The only entrants who fell 65 places or more through getting neither finalist correct were drewziph (AM), down 65 to 83rd, scruffybearmac (AM) & Pingponger (TA), both down 69 to 95=, Claire Thompson (JM), down 67 to 108th, and NyGeL (MT), KingTiger (IN) & Cheeky Chick (MT), all down 65 to 122=.
unclefester (IN) is still in last place, but he will do a last-minute handover of the lanterne rouge to Mom of Twins (IN) if Fed wins the title.
FINAL OoP (Toronto times, add 4 for GMT, 5 for BST) and PICK %s
13.30: (3) Fed 20% v (4) Muzza 12% H2H 5-6 but Fed last 3
NEXT REPORT
As usual, while the final results will appear soon after the Final finishes, there will be no further daily report, which is why I detailed the possible outcomes for the team top 3 and individual top 5 in this one. Instead, the next report will be a report on the overall rankings, which I hope to get done sometime next week.
Thank you for taking part in this contest. The next BOTB will be for the US Open, with entries due to open late on Thursday 26th August.

Oh, deary me, the earlier discussion re picks in conflict with true wishes for players has reared its head.
Just as I'm having my best ever pick'em and with all 4 semi finalists through, in particular Rafa there as my winner pick, Rafa meets Muzza !!
Oh no, blooming Muzza had hardly been giving much indication of playing that well, he can count himself lucky that I picked him as far as the semi
But Muzza is well Muzza, the player I most want to succeed on the planet.
Darn, darn, darn....
OK, go Muzza win, but then win again to get the title, then go on and win the US Open to make me truly happy, and we can then call it quits
Could be worse - Bethan will actually win if Rafa beats Andy then beats Fed in the Final!
And that fact never came close to making my want Murray to lose, my pickem will always take second place to supporting Murray - and there was certainly no part of me that thought, "Oh well at least I'll lead the pickem" when Nadal broke back in the second set.
Still I'm not longer facing any kind of conflict - I desperately need Murray to win to salvage a top 20 finish from the pickem, and I desperately want my favourite player to win anyway

And Fed still won't get a chance to meet Rafa on hardcourt, and see if his better hardcourt skills can overcome the demons in his head when he sees Rafa over the net.
World no. 1s TAT had a fairly dire Toronto but have actually increased their lead at the top to 242 points ahead of BT.net, who finished last in Toronto where they were trying to defend some points. However, BT have nothing to defend at the USO whereas the TATers are defending 2nd place points in the teams league and semi-final points in the team KO.
MTF stay in 3rd after getting a new 7th best counter in Canada. Getting pipped for 1st place in Toronto despite their hero winning again has seen AM.com slip a bit further behind, while retaining 4th place in an unchanged top 5 that is completed by Rusedski.co.uk.
BBC 606's Toronto win has helped them up 1 to 5th. They have significant points to defend at the USO, but not as many as the Feddies, whom they have already pushed back to 6th place. The only other move is GBTG, up 1 to 12th, swapping places with the Ducklings.
NEW INDIVIDUAL TOP 10
World no. 1 Scotsguy (now ML) remains on top despite having finished in the bottom 20 in Toronto ... but only just! The gap between 1st and 2nd has been cut from 202 to just 11, TimS (GR) jumping 5 places to WR 2 after finishing 12th in Toronto - one more R1 winner pick correct and he would have snatched the world no. 1 spot! What makes that near miss all the more agonising is that he has top 20 points to defend at the USO and then top 10 points in Shanghai!
Just 13 more points behind (and also within a Toronto point or two of the top spot) is former world no. 1 Shabba (IN), who holds onto WR 3. Continuing his stunning rise by moving up another 11 to WR 4 is Sparkey (GB), who has now managed three top 20 finishes (including two in slams) since starting to play BOTB at the start of 2010 and obviously has nothing to defend for the rest of the year, a bit like Roy (GR), who is still WR 6.
The only other movers in the top 10 are qczi (MT), up 10 to WR 7, and Scratchy (BT), down 7 to WR 9, though Imoen (BT), up 8 to WR 11, t12j23r90 (AM), back up 4 to WR 12, and Manaus (AM), up 35 to WR 13, are now just outside with no more points to defend this year.
Because most of the post-Wimbledon top 10 had a dire time in Canada, Hen (MT) at WR 5, eblunt (BT) at WR 8, and 2009 US Open winner gu3 (IN) at WR 10 have all held onto their places despite finishing in the bottom quartile in Toronto.
The only players dropping out of the top 10 are Dentist appointment (IN), down 12 to WR 21, and DJ (MP), down 23 to WR 27, retracing nearly half of her post-Wimbledon rise.
ON THE RISE
The biggest risers into the top 50 are ManOfJelly (BT), up 76 to WR 36 after finishing 4th in Toronto, t_torres (VB), up 55 to WR 44 after finishing 6th, and Dark_Necrofear (CC), back up 45 to WR 39 after a top 25 finish.
However, the fastest risers into the top 100 are Toronto winner airsmashers (BT), up 85 to WR 85, and AO winner JGS (IN), up 80 to WR 96, and the biggest jump into the top 200 comes from Golden Lady (AM), up 92 to WR 147 after finishing 15th.
The first 3-figure rise comes from Toronto runner-up jadesa (TA), up 101 to WR 223 after just her 3rd tournament this year. salish (ML), up 122 to WR 341, and Johnny (GB), up 139 to WR 369, are the only people to have risen further than that, while Pabbers (AM) has risen 103 to WR 374 after her first top half finish in six attempts this year, one of which saw her left as the lanterne rouge.
The highest re-entrant is mrswizz (IN), back in at WR 518, while the highest totally new entrant is amazonaria (BB), in at WR 547.
LAST YEAR'S MONTREAL WINNERS
The big fallers are usually those who didn't play in the latest pick 'em and are running out of counting scores, so when looking at fallers it's probably more interesting to see how the top three in the event coming off from last year have fared.
The top three in Montréal last year could only be separated on the very rarely needed 'who entered first' tiebreak last year and were all defending 797 points.
Last year's winner Randall Six (IN) has played all of the other 2010 pick 'ems so far but missed Toronto and drops back 53 to WR 107 but has no points to defend for the rest of the year. Meanwhile, Fiercehart (TA) managed a top 70 finish this year and only falls 23 to WR 35, but Fishflaps (MP) has plummeted 237 to WR 647, making him the biggest faller of all - he will drop out of the rankings completely unless he plays the USO.
THE NEXT PICK 'EM
It should be possible to open entries for the US Open pick 'em late on Thursday. Qualifiers are scheduled to be placed on Friday evening, but the inclement weather makes Saturday evening (or if we're very unlucky, Sunday) more likely. Entries will close when play starts in the main draw next Monday.
