To be honest, I wouldn't have picked that waster Gulbis to win even I hadn't heard the rumour. And if I had, he'd have gone and lost, not even turned up and/or retired!
I'd agree that Falla's not that good, but Chela has been even worse recently. Also, Falla had already beaten Chela this year and the bookies made it 62:38 to Falla, remarkably close to how the picks split. I hate to worry you, but we're already in the latter half of the year ...
Go back a year or two earlier, and you too could be Numpty Nalby!
Probably he would've, yeah.
*shrugs* Hey, to be honest, Billie the Bookie bot has made some stupid picks over the years. I'm not convinced that being a bookie exempts one from that.
Yeah, don't I know it. Still, for me, given my track record, if I can just pull it out before the LAST pick'em of the year, that'll be early for me.
I didn't want to say it, but I thought that too!
Looks like Cilic is putting in his bid for the Muppet of Day 2 award.

Speaking of good choices, btw, Sashko defeated Petzschner a little bit earlier. Can you tell us what the percentage pick was on that steven? I'm wondering if people have begun to cotton on to Sashko as an up and coming force or if I am still benefitting from being one of the few people with the knowledge to back him, to my own Pick'em success?
EDIT: Just checked. It seems that 38% picked in favour of Sashko, whilst the majority 62% picked in favour of Petzschner. So that should be to my benefit! Started off the day as =27, am hoping to rise by the end of the day!
Meanwhile, Nalby and Ferrer, the big swing match, gets underway. I backed Ferrer, but it was a tough choice.

Unfortunately, Nalby is edging Ferrer out at the moment. I badly need Ferrer to turn it around in this second set.
EDIT: I note that interestingly, Nole and Rafa have finally made their doubles debut together! There were plans last year at the Rogers Cup that they would play dubs, but if I remember correctly this never materialised and it was called off at the last moment. According to the atp homepage, they finally made good on those plans, one year later... only to be defeated in the first round by a Canadian wildcard pairing. So much for teamwork .

Don't know what they were injecting into Gulbis in his rumoured time in hospital
He takes the first set against Sod and is 1 - 0 * in the second.
Not that Sod losing here would be that bad in the grand scheme of things as long Gulbis reverted to type later on.
Gulbis is the ultimate Pickem Loose Canon (PLC). Just when I thought I'd outmanoevered that devious Lativian by picking him to win for me in round 1, confident that he's got no hope next round v Sod, he's now in the process of putting out my go-deep final pick. What ever you expect him to do he always manges to do something else.
I'd like Steven to introduce a Pickem Joker selection - you can nominate 1 player who will not muck up your selections - any result involving this player is deemed nul and void. Trouble is who would you pick - Gulbis, Dammit, Nalby ?
Soderling is fighting back and has taken the second set 6-4, its all evens at 1-1 in the third, so I have hope yet that Gulbis is going to adhere to my plans - namely, win in the first round and then obligingly lose in the second round.
