Week 31 Futures - Great Britain F12 ($15k) - Roehampton

Hmm, most of the main hopes in the 4th quarter.  Hopefully make it a GB only zone after R1.

To answer two of the above posts, Greg is coaching both Wardy and Hewitt:

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/article-23853183-greg-rusedskis-desperate-to-get-british-tennis-smiling.do

According to ITF, Dan Smethurst was a late withdrawal today (now that's what I call a late w/d!)

George Morgan has been on the GB top 25 table for two weeks, and both times he's bombed out in qualifying - to Chaudry in qr2 last week, to a lower-ranked GEM in the fqr this week. cry.gif

Yes, the bottom quarter does look stacked as far as the Brits are concerned. I wonder if Josh can survive the younger, lower-ranked Brit onslaught this week ...

I hope the Wardinator has a better week too, Rochette having shown that he can be beaten ...

Mecir must be the fav to do the double though.

That's a good point!

I guess the tournament organisers knew about the withdrawal before the qualifying draw on Saturday but the ITF only processed it today and that's why it shows up with today's date on their site.

Btw if there does end up being a LL place, it doesn;t necessarily go to the highest-ranked loser in the FQR, that's only true of ATP events (main tour and Challengers), not ITFs (slams and Futures)

Excellent win by Nick Lester in his first pro match since 2002! biggrin

Nick's 33 with a career high ranking of 1220 set in 2000.

I presume he must have won a British tour event to have got himelf a WC here.

Really good on him though.  Barry King's ranked 768.

We've now 2 new ranked players with Skupski's win too.  smile
