I wondered if she might get brought back to earth today - those two wins she had against Li were very tight and Li actually won the 1st set t/b in Eastbourne before retiring. In some ways, the loss today reflects what big achievements the win at IW and pushing her that close in Eastbourne actually were.

May be weird to say this, but probably a par performance from Bally, given that she was playing a top 11 player. Yes Bally won their first meeting, but I watched their second meeting when I thought Bally was in her best form and Na Li sneaked the first set before retiring. So if Na Li was just below par due to injury that day, todays scoreline assuming Na Li was at her best is probably a fair reflection of their playing capabilites.

Agreed - even at IW, Li won the 2nd set 6-2 and Elena scraped through tiebreaks in the other two sets - testament to Elena being such a tough fighter and making the most of her chances against a player who at this point is still a class above her.

Yes agreed, not weird at all. Just strikes me as a probably a pretty accurate reflection, as much as we can reflect not actually seeing it. If Na Li was at her best then such a scoreline was always very possible.
No rankings points movement for Bally since 30 points was already her 16th counter. I was thinking still good to put that in the bank for rainy days, but I really hope they're not coming anytime soon.
All wheels still on the wagon as she continues I hope towards the top 50.
