Paul Annacone's new job

Rafa, Muzza and Nole fans will be hoping that Annacone can do for Federer what he did for the GB DC team ... wink

rofl.gif The hilarious thing is that the Fed fans are all praising the decision to the skies and saying how great Annacone will be for Fed. Not one of them seems disgruntled that Annacone was formerly affiliated with ( eyepopping.gif GASP) players who are not Fed, and certainly none of them have cottoned onto that fact about what Annacone did for the GB DC team imslow.gif

erm Annacone ruined the GB davis cup team? news to me...there i was thinking that it was the poor development of young talent by the LTA leaving us without any depth in the men's game - now i find out it was Annacone all along causing our potential world-beaters like Maniel Bains and Tim Bradshaw to play like futures strugglers - who'd have thought it...

seriously Annacone's speciality is looking after players at the back-end of their careers. He did it with Sampras and especially with Henman in 2003/4, managing to stop his underachieving at the overseas grand slams by getting him to play to his strengths on every surface. It wouldn't surprise me to see him do the same for Federer

oh and OEM agrees with me http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/tennis/article6084160.ece

I always wonder what would have happened if Annacone had become Henman's coach at the time Stefanki did.

No, of course he didn't, I was just joking to highlight the weirdness of going from GB DC coach to coaching Federer smile.gif
