Bally just doing enough against a tricky opponent with nothing to lose. Not sure the Turkish girl benifitted from the umpire awarding a second point penalty against Bally in that TB, all it did was stir up Bally into playing her best tennis. I still don't think its appropriate for an umpire to award point penalties at crucial points in matches, given that they were clearly marginal and it was the Turkish girl if anything who needed the extra time between points.

Yes point penalties often rile the player penalised into increased determination to win. Also agree with your view about awarding point penalties at critical times (I would extend that to the sudden calling of second serve foot faults like in the infamous match between Kim and Serena last year) though Bally's copying of Sharapova's walk to the back between points (assuming she is still doing it) makes her vulnerable to a strict umpire.
I wouldn't have thought Bally only recieving the ball from her right hand side helps either.
Bally is always someone who plays herself into form, so a struggle against a wild card here is much to worry about. I think she needed another round under her belt to have a chance against Schiavone though.
