RE: Week 29 Futures - Ireland F1 ($15k) - Dublin - Carpet

It looks like Cox is finally producing the form we expected from him for a while, and he's going to be back around the top 500 which is where he was before all his points started to fall off.

A shame he couldn't play like this when he had those points as he could be top 350/400 by now if he had, but as long as he keeps this run going, there's no reason to suspect he can't make that by the end of the year.

Maybe would be good to start off quicker after successive first set scores of  1 - 6,  4 - 6 and 0 - 6  hmm.gif

Weirly enough, Falgheri has lost the middle set of ALL FOUR of his matches this week, to 3, 1, 2 & 2 respectively hmm. So the smart money looks like it's on them splitting the first two sets and it coming down to the third!

So of course, they did it the other way round! biggrin

But YES - 10 wins in a row for Dan Cox! biggrin

FI: Dan Cox WR 784 beat (7) Andrea Falgheri (ITA) WR 611 by 6-1 3-6 6-3 biggrin

I so hope this isn't another 2-week wonder and he can really build on it this time - I'm already very impressed at the way he's picked himself off the floor after all those points came off!

Having plummeted 256 places from WR 545 to WR 801 when his Gausdal win came off, Dan's two titles this fortnight will see him rise nearly 300 places from WR 784 to about WR 490 over the next two Mondays.

Having been GB no. 22 at the start of the week, he will move back into the GB top 10 on Monday week too and is now 8th in the GB 2010 'race'!

I was nearly going to say yesterday, bet they split the first two sets the other way round in the final, really I was  smile

Anyway, another title for Dan, great stuff  clap.gif

It is impressive how seemingly rather than get down on himself when his ranking plunged he's really played well to so quickly get it back up.

Now, not expecting a title every week he plays, though would be nice  wink.gif  but he surely should be able to pick up some steady points so that he doesn't expose himself to dropping anything like so far down again over a period of a couple of weeks.

I believe you, cos so was I! LOL smile

Of course, Dan is the first GB man to win more than one singles title this year and the first GB man to win a singles title outside the UK this year.

Winning one of the two oldest tournaments in the world is no small achievement. Here are some who have failed to do it this year -

Roger Federer
Andy Murray
Juan Martin Del Potro
Robin Soderling
Novak Djokovic
Marko Djokovic

Great for Dan to win the title and back-to-back titles is a great achievement for him.

If he can just keep this form going and pick his tournaments well then he could well really kick on at the end of this season.
