Week 29 - Challenger ($50,000) - Lexington, KY, USA (Hard)

QR1: Dominic Inglot WR 581 v Gastao Elias (POR) WR 806 - winner to play (q3) Brydan Klein (AUS) WR 338 or Yuki Bhambri (IND) WR 475

Jamie Baker is a DA here but I'm not sure what's happened to Bloomers and Eaton, who were both on the entry list here and would easily have got into qualifying (Bloomers would have been the top seed) or to Evo, who reached the semis here last year and seemed like he might give qualifying a go after going out of Frinton so early.

Dominic gets this coverage HERE

Great Britain's Dominic Inglot, who faces Gastao Elias of Portugal early in the afternoon, has the best recent result...perhaps in the entire tournament's draw...but, for doubles. He and countryman Chris Eaton stunned defending Wimbledon champions Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic 8-6 in the fifth set in the second round of the All England championships earlier this month. Playing for the University of Virginia Cavaliers, Inglot was half of the 2009 NCAA doubles championship team..

Eaton would have been at a push, being in the dubs final in Frinton yesterday evening.

L32: Jamie Baker WR 247 v (5) Jesse Levine (USA) WR 158

Amazingly, Levine hasn't played a Brit since Boggo beat him in Newport way back in 2006.

Although on the face of it drawing the 5th seed might not seem like a particularly good draw I would say Jamie has come out very well here. Levine is having a pretty dire year so far and has won just 4 matches at Challenger level (coincidently the same number as Jamie). Although Levine would be the favourite he cant be high on confidence so one would hope that Jamie can use his very positive DC experience to spur him on here.

I don't think so, but he studies in Kentucky, so it wasn't wrong to expect him to drop in. Of course, he maybe in the UK now (UK as in United Kingdom, not Uni of Kentucky).

From Wikipedia:

"Fifth Third's unusual name is the result of the June 1, 1908 merger of two banks, The Fifth National Bank and The Third National Bank, to become The Fifth Third National Bank of Cincinnati. Because the merger took place during a period when prohibitionist ideas were gaining popularity, it was believed that "Fifth Third" was better than "Third Fifth," which could be construed as a reference to three "fifths" of alcohol. The name went through several changes over the years, until on March 24, 1969, the name was changed to Fifth Third Bank."

He & Huey are in harness together again & the top seeds in the doubles.  They face Cory Parr & Vasek Pospisil (USA/CAN) in the first round.  I hope they manage a better showing than last week... please.gif
