Five breakpoints in the Brazilian's opening two service games are missed - but Alves only needs one

A lengthy break between sets helps Anne regain focus and get an early break in the decider

6-3 0-6 1*-0

Suddenly the scoreboard updates after a long pause and it's good news

Anne 6-3 0-6 3*-0

It's the turn of Alves to hardly win a point as Anne wins 19 in a row

6-3 0-6 5*-0

Alves stops the run of points but cannot prevent the bagel. Anne will play the winner of Alexandra Panova and Aleksandra Krunic in final qualifying, with the Russian seed currently up an early break

GSM Anne 6-3 0-6 6-0

What a bizarre score line. Will be interesting to see Anne's Twitter comments (if any) re this match.

Strange match!

FQR: (q5) Anne Keothavong WR 153 v (q3) Alexandra Panova (RUS) WR 145

They have actually met once, in a 25K in Patras in 2006, when Anne won 2 & 3.

I've noticed a few inverse bagels (if that's the right expression confuse ) in  women's matches but what seemed bizarre was the transformation from Anne barely winning a point (in the last 3 games of set 2, though Anne may have opted to save herself for set 3 at that point) to barely losing a point.

She's up first again tomorrow at 9am BST - the potential opponents in the main draw if successful are Maja Zec Peskiric, Marina Erakovic, (4) Sara Errani and (7) Polona Hercog. The New Zealander is still working her way back after a long absence from the Tour, so would probably be a good draw, with Errani the toughest prospect.

In doubles Anna is again in a match with Johanna Larsson - but this time on the opposite side of the net. They play later on Monday

Doubles R1

(3)Pavlyuchenkova/Rodionova (RUS/AUS) v Fedak/Vasylyeva (UKR)
Arvidsson/Larsson (SWE) v Keothavong/Smith
(GBR)

Anne's match has started and there's been 2 breaks of serve already. Anne is trailing *1-2 and currently saving break points in an attempt to hold serve.

Anne manages to break back straight away, and then holds serve for the first time. 3-3*

Panova takes the first set 6-3.

Anne's problem seems to be her first serve %age at 44%.
