Girls: AEGON Junior International Newcastle - Grade 4 (Week 28)


Last week's winner Pippa Horn has pulled out of the second home tournament, which despite the higher grade is no stronger than last week. Ruth Seaborne is again the top seed followed by Elliesa Ball, Emma Devine and Taro Keens

Half of the first round played so far with the only non-Brits in the first and third quarters removed to ensure two British semifinalists: Sophie Watts and Charlotte Phillips both coming from a set down to knock out seeds.

First round completed, and a great day for Emily Gibbens, who beat 4th seed Taro Keens in singles, and then, with Emelia Box, took out the top seeds (Seaborne/Bayliss) in the doubles

Emily Gibbens removed the only non-British player in the top half, ensuring a British finalist. All the remaining seeds progressed.
