Whoever said it's difficult to get there by rail, well, it's not really - The Bolton Arena is located next to Horwich Parkway rail station, which is about 25 mins from either Manchester or Preston.
Sounds excellent, no doubt much easier than most possible venues. May consider a cross-border excursion to come down.
The next DC tie is being held 4-6 March 2011 and GBR are at home to Tunisia.
Teams information not yet available but it'll be interesting to see who partners who in the doubles.
The venue is Bolton Arena which has good transport links. It's just off the M61 (junction 6) and there is a railway station for the Arena - Horwich Parkway - which is on a local line between Manchester and Preston. This website has a facility for searching for train times and, having checked it out, it seems trains run about 3 per hour and take 20/25mins from Manchester Victoria to Horwich Parkway. Coming from the north (Preston mainline station) it's about 35mins to Horwich Parkway. There are through trains from Manchester Airport direct to Horwich Parkway - takes about 45mins UK rail section Map, Horwich Parkway map and Location Map here. It is part of a large complex which includes Bolton Wanderers Reebok Stadium, Bolton Arena, an Athletics Stadium, 10-screen cinema complex and Middlebrook Retail Shopping Centre (with main chain stores and plenty of places to eat and drink).
The mad Murray fans are once again organising a group booking with a small discount for going on all 3 days.
If anyone from this board wants to come along and join the cheering squad we'd be delighted to welcome you with us. Herebelow are the ticket prices which included p&p (no booking fee needed!). All 3 days = £34.00 Fri or Sun only = £15.00 Sat only = £10.00 Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun = £24.00
The more the merrier (and we are usually very merry after a glass or three) to cheer on the Brit boys!
There is a Premier Inn nearby where some am.commers have already booked rooms. £40 for Fri 4th and £56 for Sat 5th March per room - without breakfast which can be booked on top. Total £96.00 for 2 nights. If you share with one other that's £48 each for the 2 nights.
P.S. I searched for a thread but couldn't find one; if I've missed it maybe someone could merge this post into it?
P.P.S. This is in the wrong sub-forum, could have sworn I was in British Discussion one ......

Probably worth a sticky before the thread gets lost again and we know it will become well used closer to the event. Could maybe unsticky the Turkey tie thread.

Is that those frightful noisy student types from Stirling University? Thanks for telling me where NOT to stay ...
Bah humbug ...
I think the am.commers would be highly entertained at being mistaken for the Stirling Uni mob.
Apart from anything else there's probably a considerable age gap between them and 'us' (like +30 years!!!). So, erm no, we're not frightful noisy student types although we might have one or two well mannered students with us (from BT.net as it goes!!!).
Most of the am.com group are tennis watching veterans who've been supporting British tennis for a long time - even before Tim!!! So, we're very noisy in support of the DC team.
You could risk staying at the Premier Inn - you might come across us doing something exciting like playing lounge bowls if you're lucky. If you're unlucky you'll probably find us putting the tennis world to rights over several glasses of something alcoholic.
If you would like to join us I need to know by Wednesday midnight - best to PM me. We have to pay by Friday to secure the booking with the LTA. Thanks.
I'd been just thinking about the potential squad. Really there are not a lot of players sticking their hands up.
I'd say James Ward is a shoe-in, after that hmm.
I'd like to see Jamie Baker produce more form, at the moment. I'd say the second singles place rests between him and Dan Cox ( assuming Andy and Boggo will not be involved ).
The various doublers are not generally having particularly great times and it is a pity that Colin and Ross haven't been able to really get their partnershop going. Jamie Murray seems to be in better form. I'd certainly go with Colin Fleming, especially so if playing two doubles players since he offers most singles quality. With either Ken Skupski ( who clearly Colin is familar with although they haven't to me been that impressive at Davis Cup level ) or Jamie Murray to partner him.
So, basically I reckon pretty uncertain at the moment, looking like :
Surely it has to be Ross/Flembo if they're going to be a pairing this year or even Delgado/Marray who are the playing the most out of all british pairs?
Singles im sure James Ward gets in on just being part of Team Aegon (which i personally think is a shambles)
Baker has to get some wins if he wants to concrete his position, but tbh theres no one really pushing him in terms of wins. Dan Cox is a good shout, i'd go with him, he scored some very impressive results last year and took about 5 titles was it?
