RE: Week 28 Futures - Great Britain F10($10k) - Frinton - Grass

Probably not for just one day. I did it last year but stayed overnight and went on the Saturday as well plus there was a women's event on at the same time. Is the Foxhills club any closer to you?

Contemplating going down to Frinton tomorrow as I have the whole day spare. Can't decide if a 350 mile round trip is worth it though.

Don't go, the student night is on a tuesday as we found out this week, will be waste.

It's a bit closer (250 mile round journey) but doesn't appeal to me as much.

I suppose if you can get up early enough to get there in time then there's nothing to lose.

Dan Cox has a tough match against Ebelthite. From a distance, the Aussie looks about 104....I had to walk over to get a closer look! Certainly an extra can of Fosters may well have been supped by the guy but he had a bit of class about his game.

His shots were low over the net and he was hitting the corners leaving Ollie flat footed. The umpire was getting in a state in this match so it must have been hard for either player but I remember thinking Ebelthite's game looked beyond an average futures players.

Thats not to say that Dan didn't play an excellent match himself and, if fitness comes into it, the Dans your man............looks like he could run all day!

Evo tanked the match with Gabb to play Lexington qualies, he will then go on to win Lexington and prove his loss was all worth it, just watch...

They're both underdogs (rankings wise), so it will be good to get at least one in the final.

btw, Shhh's prediction of a Cox v Goodall final is still on.

Yes! biggrin

SF: Dan Cox WR 787 beat Colin Ebelthite (AUS) WR 568 by 3 & 4 biggrin
SF: (3/WC) Josh Goodall WR 379 beat (2) Vishnu Vardhan (IND) WR 376 by 6-3 3-6 6-4 biggrin

FI: (3/WC) Josh Goodall WR 379 v Dan Cox WR 787

Three all British Men's futures finals in consecutive weeks, now that is a welcome statistic

Good one, Coxy. It will be great if he can win against Goodall at last.

If the weathers good and it is indeed on grass i think Goody will take it, Cox has much more of a chance on a slower indoor court.

What a tussle that second semi was! biggrin Josh's luck finally started to run out in the final, however:

(1) Chris Eaton & Josh Goodall WR 368 lost to Tim Bradshaw & James Ludlow (USA) WR 1439 by 4-6 7-6(7) [7-10] blehbiggrin

Close, but not close enough! disbelief

No obvious place in the Juniors forum to post this London Evening Standard article about/interview with young Tom Farquharson, but since the lad is already 18 & seems determined to make the step-up from juniors to seniors, this thread seemed like the next most obvious! wink
