I feel your pain. I'm painfully shy until I know people and then they can't shut me up.

I had a day out at Wrexham futures 20 months or so back and only spoke to Ahmed El Menshawy. (Even that ended up with an LTA coach hounding me for character assasination)

Thanks for the reports. Coxy is a fascinating player. One capable of doing a lot. My best guess is that he just can't find his best level consistently.

Re: the lack of respect for officials - they probably all support a Premier league football team

Thanks for the detailed report Shhh, very interesting. It's got to be a good sign if they are now supporting each other when they're not playing rather than just 'hanging out'.

Re Gabb, I thought he'd get a point last week, and although I didn't expect him to win today, I thought he'd give Evo a good game. He really impressed me when I saw him and as I've said before, he was very unlucky not to get a point prior to last week.

Good thing to see. A couple of years ago I was at the Surbiton challenger and then the Felixstow futures. The British players just seemed to hang out together between matches, almost like at a social club. At Frinton they were all out watching other matches, often offering support to fellow Brits. It just seemed to make for a more serious tournament from a British point of view.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been to several futures events and it depends on various things wether or not the other players come out to support each other. Mates will tend to support mates for one thing.

Also if its R1 or R2 matches then there is likely to have more players still around to support each other....obviously the later the week goes on the less chance you may be about yourself let alone any of your mates.

Guys also want to watch higher ranked players also...or those who maybe playing on form.

I do think though there is a certain level of 'GB team spirit'...just depends...

My opinions are based on home events of course. Foreign trips I presume would galvanise this 'GB team spirit'

Sean Thornley (who's still in of course and due to play tomorrow at 11) just tweeted "with Dr No hahahahaha".  If they were offering odds on a Gabb win ... wink

I feel a betting investigation coming up. I'm selling my house and getting it all on Gabby.

no Willis is in the crew, more notorious for his nando's exploits and a less illustrious member, but a member nontheless

what about when he missed that Australian Open juniors match when he went AWOL? he'd blatantly been getting slaughtered the night before, i reckon he thought it was better to be absent rather than be seen  hungover on match day

Based on yesterdays performance, I would pick the following (in BOLD) to win today. 24hours changes a lot in tennis though.....................

L16: Sean Thornley WR 648 v (WC) Richard Gabb UNR
L16: Dan Cox WR 787 v Kyle Brassington WR 925
L16: (4) Alexander Sadecky (SUI) WR 367 v Colin Ebelthite (AUS) WR 568
L16: Rudy Coco (FRA) WR 578 v (Q) Xander Spong (NED) WR 1180
L16: (8) Alex Ward WR 513 v (Q) Tim Bradshaw WR 945
L16: (3/WC) Josh Goodall WR 379 v Divij Sharan (IND) WR 902
L16: (WC) George Morgan WR 1343 v (5) Blake Strode (USA) WR 488
L16: (Q) Andrew Fitzpatrick WR 1769 v (2) Vishnu Vardhan (IND) WR 389

Then Dan Cox, Xander Spong, Josh Goodall & Vishnu Varden to make semis

(Dan Cox - Josh Goodall Final wink )

Well, aren't the crew generally making thrilling progress at the moment  hmm.gif

I do trust Sean will come out looking reasonably alert today or maybe a question or two might be asked about that tweet.
