Yes, her serve does let her down at crtical times, which must be really frustrating for her. I am sure she and others have really worked to try and sort this.
Diasappointing for Laura, and as I said yesterday it was certainly a match I had her as a pretty strong favourite for.
There may be something in RBBOT's thoughts that she doesn't do quite as well against other rising stars, can't say that I am particularly aware of this or have analysed it, though she wasn't quite with it at Junior Wimbledon.
Still she should really be beating Babos. Guess maybe just one of these days when she wasn't functioning as well as she can, which was my one worry, since they do still happen with Laura although not as much as in the past.
Credit though to Babos assuming part of the reason was that she no doubt played pretty well.
I think high wind may also be something that counts against Laura; she often seems to be affected by it more than her opponent and given the way it is gusting through my office window in Central London, I'd imagine conditions weren't good on court either.
No disgrace in that defeat for Laura. It seems to me Babos was marginally the better player, but Laura fought very hard even going a break up at the start of the third set. When it went to the TB Babos became the favourite( she's won her last 9/10 TBs at senior level) and Laura does tighten up at times in TBs. Babos clearly playing very well. Laura still due to play in Wrexham next week, so we shall see if she sticks with this entry. Laura still to make that breakthrough ( either win a challenger or win a few back to back matches at WTA tour level). Babos better watch out for her next match against Laura though as Laura has a knack for dishing out immediate revenge.
Katie still struggling but wins, could find it difficult against Laine as she seems to be in top notch form.
