Coach not with her I think, noticed she had put a little weight on at Wimby. I suspect there is something not quite right in her camp. Outdoor hard are also supposed to be good playing conditions for her.
Was a match that I was certainly expecting Cav to win.
Must though be mentioned as Steven did that Ruutel was out for nine months after reaching her CH of 162 in April 2009, after ending each of the 3 years from 2006 to 2008 in the top 200. She has recently reached a 25K final in Poland albeit on clay, so would seem to be on the up gain after a slow start to 2010..
She is undoubtably well underranked. That said, she has only beaten one player inside the top 300 this year, WR 269 in that Poland 25K. Jess Ren also gave her quite a 3 set battle in R1.
So difficult to know really quite what Ruutel's perfformance level was and hence Cav's, though I think we can surmise that Cav was probably well off her best.
Some better news to report, clearly rain didn't stop play, Anna won 2-6 6-3 6-3 and I think plays the girl Cav lost against so a huge opportunity to make the semis.
Also Laine's defeat of Yakimova puts Tara's performance yesterday in a better light.
