Bit of a shock though re Anna. After Anna's really hugely improved and consistent performances over the first few months of the year she's just not had really too much success over the last couple of months. But that does look a real bad one.
Well it's an abrupt change of surface. And grass is always going to be tricky for players like Anna who're 'on the cusp' - playing higher-ranked people but to a certain extent expecting victories because it's 'our' surface. Whereas in reality indoor hard is our surface!
R2: CARRERAS, Amanda (GBR) 476 lost to YONEMURA, Tomoko (JPN) 5 217 6-2 6-4
Amanda got 5 more games than Anna but that's a very emphatic double Brit-bash by Yonemura whom Naomi Broady beat in a tight 3-setter in Fukuoka just 2 months ago. She did beat Bally in Toyota last year though, so clearly has very good days sometimes.
The 8 points for Amanda replace the 8 she has coming off on Monday, albeit with a week's delay.

Very strange scoreline in Anna's match. You'd have to think there were alot of deuces and Anna didn't win any big points whatsoever. I thought Anna's form was on the up as well, having had a great MDs experience at Wimby. Hopefully her Woking experience will be somewhat more pleasant than this one.
