RE: Week 27 Futures - Great Britain F9 ($10k) - Ilkley (grass)

SF: David Rice (Gbr) beat George Morgan (Gbr) 5-7 6-2 6-2

Very good week for George, becoming the fifth 1993 boy I think to make the ATP top 1000

He told the LTA:

"I am obviously disappointed today but David played well. I'm pleased with my week here reaching my first futures semi-final and I felt I did well adapting to the conditions from playing at Wimbledon to playing here in Ilkley. Now [Im] just looking forward to playing Frinton next week with high confidence about my game."

Pity for George....at least we have a Brit winner.

Perhaps a shame that Morgan couldn't reach the final, but it has been a great week for him anyway and he's starting to make waves on the senior tour at least and is showing that he has the potential to succeed at senior level.

Looks like Goodall is coming back into a bit of form after a poor few months and probably should take the title tomorrow, and may well do the double with Fitzy.

It's certainly good to see Josh doing okay again. It has been a desperate year for him so far.

It is good to see Josh back on form, however I'd like to see Dr No win today.
His climb up the rankings has been slow and steady and I think he has the potential to make the top 200.

Anyway, like Boggo and Bloomers, Goodall is too old! (Unofficial comment from the LTA)no

He is certainly on the long list of players badly treated by the LTA over the last few years.

Josh gaining some confidence here and points too. Something to inspire him in the next weeks and good to remember that winning feeling once more.

Good for Josh to get the title here and it will do his confidence the world of good ahead of the rest of the season, and hopefully he can get himself back towards the top 250 by the end of the year.

Shame for Rice to lose another final, but it's still been a good week for him and he's got a chance of taking some more ranking points next week.

Well done Josh, and also to Fitzy on a maiden senior title.

BT.net's friendliest player and Vandenburg's nemesis seem like an unlikely combination smile.gif but very well done to Fitzy for his title and Josh for doing the double. smile.gif Great to see George Morgan's success and Dr No having another good week too. smile.gif
