The latter stages of this event are usually on Eurosport aren't they?

Incredible run for Bloomers here, I thought Giraldo would be too tough for him.

Also congrats to Jonny Marray for his first tour level victory outside the UK.

I really hope this rankings boost does give Bloomers the impetus to make a big effort to have a great next 12 months - amazingly enough, he's still got a higher CH (179) than any of the other Brits still playing apart from Muzza and Boggo!

Eurosport arent showing it, no, but to be fair they have the DC which I would rather see anyway. They also have a McEnroe v Ivanisevic exo along with the big Serena v Clijsters exo that Henin dropped out of.

Jonny & Jamie are first one tomorrow but it looks like they are only playing two singles QFs and Bloomers will get a day off.

That was quick - http://www.espn.co.uk/tennis/sport/story/33207.html

I wonder if anyone at the LTA will notice, they haven't in 5 days - does anyone there follow British players?

Blimey!  That must be a first:  Steven reporting the timing of a doubles match! disbelief

After three days on the trot of matchplay, Bloomers deserves his day off! wink

Both their twitter account @britishtennis and the Ace twitter account follow me, so it would be a bit surprising if they hadn't noticed between them. http://twitter.com/gbtennis is fairly Bloomers-heavy tonight, you might say wink

Oh, c'mon !!    I know I sometimes do have a few things to say against the LTA.

But they must have noticed these goings on !!!!

Pity they can't get round to highlighting them though, which does provoke unfair thoughts... it is unfair isn't it..... it must be really.... they can't have missed this.... beginning to wonder actually....

I think you may have missed the irony in our "can they really not have noticed" type posts. But who knows, maybe the person responsible for updating the news hasn't. Richard / Newport are on the 'This Week' map though. http://www.lta.org.uk/News/ThisWeekNews/2010-07-05/Newport-USA/

Indiana,

Dont you realise that after two weeks of 'Wimby' the LTA press office is so exhausted after all the running about getting flowers for Judy Murray, an extra tub of cream for Mr Draper, an extra roll of toilet paper for Steve Martens (He spent the entire 2 weeks...sorry first two days crapping himself in case one the the men won a match) and painting the entire route from her Majesty's carriage to the royal box red....to write anything about a non-LTA supported professional mens tennis player...are you drugs man !!!!!!

Great win for RB, no doubt about that. Nobody seems to have remarked onthe stats: Richard only got 50% of his 1st serves in. He won86% of those!      Does he normally miss this many first serves?    On the second serve, he only wins 50% of the points.

No reason why he can't win tomorrow as well, his level must be good. He may never have another chance to get into an ATP semi!  A decent slug of cash as well as points.

It'd be nice to have a match report, but I suppose he is not famous enough!  It'll start being a good story if he gets to the semis - not often an Englishman wins 6 matches in a week!  And if we could claim Dustin as our own, it might be an all GB final!

The win was announced in the Today programme's sports roundup this morning (at least in the pre-7:00 am version). Non-slam tennis results rarely get a mention there  so doubly impressive to have made it in!
