25 more points, over $12,000 in prize money, up to about WR 363, i.e. nearly 200 places, and jumps from GB no. 12 to GB no. 7 ahead of Goodall and just 3 points behind Smethurst.
What a week

I really hope that this acts as a springboard for Bloomers, who, at 27, is not to old (despite what the LTA might think) to make a late surge in his career. He has had a rotten couple of years and it would be great to see him establish himself back around the Baker/Ward ranking area, if not maybe a little higher than that!

I think Spud was forgetting the qualifying points. He'll move up to 102 points and put him around 360ish. Another win will move him up into the top 300.
In a way, it probably starts the clock much like getting to the Rotterdam QFs did for Big Arv. I hope it doesn't end the same way - Parmar wasn't able to take advantage and retired shortly before the points came off.
Btw I wonder if we've ever has 8 singles quarter-finalists in ATPs/Challengers/Futures in a single week before - I'm virtually certain we haven't since I started doing the T25 tables.

Yes, there's one player on 102 points at the moment and they are WR 363.
Ricahrd's opponent in the QFs will be Ryan Harrison.

Thank goodness for that - I couldn't have stood another set!
I was only watching scoreboard but could feel a sense of confidence in Richards game.
I wonder what the morons on Mens Tennis, which seems to have turned into a betting site will have to say? They already said today that C Rochus threw the match, trouble is they only look at ranking stats and dont know the players like most on here do.
I can't imagine we have, certainly not in my admitedly fairly short memory (having only really followed seriously since about 2005). There are glimmers, though whisper it quietly, that our mens game may just be showing some fledgling signs of improvement.

Oh yeh haha, even better! :P
Wow, what a turn up that would be if he could win his next match then, Top 300!!
It might have been last year in Edinburgh on the green clay when I watched Bloomers get cuffed by a french player in R1. I cant remember who. I wondered why he bothered to turn up...he was dejected, lethargic and so far off the pace...or lack of pace.
So to see this run...well it just goes to show you what can be done.
Nice piece on the BBC sport web site about his run....sorry its not Wimbledon and his second name isnt Murray so of course there is nothing on the BBC about this. Silly me.

They are saying Giraldo tanked because he needs to concentrate on slams
QF: (Q) Richard Bloomfield WR 552 v (WC) Ryan Harrison WR 262
H2H: 0-1, Laguna Niguel Fut Final last year, very close 4-6 6-3 7-5.
Grass form in 2010: Harrison beat Ball & Wardy (3 & 3) in Nottingham before losing 2 & 2 to Berankis then got a WC into Queen's, where he lost 3 & 3 to Levine in R1. In Wimbledon qualifying, Berankis beat him convincingly again 3 & 2 in QR1.

The H2H for the QF is 1-0 in Ryan Harrison's favour, having taken a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Bloomers in the final of USA F24 on hard courts late last year. I would make the young American the favourite, he is one of the real up and coming stars of the American game I think. However, he is lacking in experience at just 18 and wasn't that convincing against his compatriot today who is outside the top 700.
Edit: sorry once again Steven for inadvertantly copying you!
