Laura in a battle to try and hold her serve at 4-3* in the 2nd set. She saved 3 break points, 2 of them with aces but a 4th is too many and JJ serving for the match at 6-3 *5-3
Good effort from Laura, but JJ turned what should have been a comfortable and fortgetable first round match into a bit more of a struggle than it should have been.
Laura has got the potential to be a top player, but still needs work on the second serve, and especially her movement, which at the moment is not up to the standard it needs to be at the top level (but should improve, and probably has been good enough at junior level in the past)
Signs are encouraging though and perhaps if she can get a better draw next year she could win some matches.
Less said about Mel's performance the better though.
Katie vs Bondarenko is underway on Court 15. KOB dropped her opening service game, but it's 0-30 with Bondarenko serving, so hopefully she'll break back.

I totally agree with that. I am also a bit concerned that Laura seems to have almost gone backwards with her overheads. When she was 14 she looked very composed in finishing off defensive lobs, but in recent matches that i've seen, she seems to snatch at them now and often loses easy points. Her movement also hasnt improved in two years which is a concern, but overall I remain confident that she will eventually reach the top 50
