You had to mention it: Anne/Mel drop the first set and are a break down in the 2nd. Bropos a break down in the second. Anna/Naomi still on serve though.

Cavaday is not playing well... :/ Anna's doing a good job, but when your partner keeps hitting straight down the middle into the path of the net player it's a bit tricky...Wonder why they are playing with Naomi in the deuce court too - doesn't seem to be really working.

Very impressed with a lot of Sarah's play, and Raquel has a beautiful touch. Hope they can get the third tomorrow.

Borops were a break down in the third but now back on serve, but they're serving to make it 6-6 right now.

They couldn't do it though and lost 7-5 cry

Broady and Katie lost 6-2 6-3 earlier as well so just Joss and Heather in the 2nd round so far with only Laura and Bally still to play.

Bally is on centre and Laura on Court 1 - Bally's match is available via the BBC website, and I expect Laura's will be shortly

Baltacha/Savchuk won 6-3 6-3
Robson/Peers lost 6-2 6-4

Sally was overwhelmed by playing on court 1, failed to hold serve, and Laura was too inexperienced to help her much

If I remember rightly Peers and Robson were a last minute wildcard paring at the Australian Open. Playing with an Australian partner was probably the only way Laura could have got into that tournament. After they reached the quarters, Laura owed it to Peers to play with her again, even though I heard at the time that she was carrying her. But Laura has paid her dues, and after today's performance from Peers, it is time for her to find a better partner.

Yes, Sally I recall was due to be playing the Aus Open with someone else who pulled out and she invited Laura to team up with her.

I do recall Laura was the stronger partner generally but in some of the coverage I saw Sally did play well at times too.  Laura isn't that good to single handedly get a doubles team to the Aus Open quarter finals, it was a partnership.

They may indeed have decided then that Laura was going to team with Sally at Wimbledon and that seems quite understandable, possibly part payback to Sally from Laura but maybe just it was great, let's do it again.

I didn't see any of today's match so don't know how badly or otherwise Sally played and how much she froze.  But it is quite possible that it was just an arrangement for Wimbledon anyway with possibly see how it goes there.

Be quite good for Laura if she can find a good regular partner although how much more she could actually play the rest of the year, with her age restrictions on how many tournaments she can play, I'm far from clear.

According to BBC Guernsey Heather has been carrying an injury since her singles loss, which makes her doubles win a little more impressive:
