Flemski did well to respond after dropping their level early in the 4th. Some inspired points in the tiebreak saw them home to face the Bryan brothers in round 2
Does anybody think a 5th set tie break in Men's Doubles would attract any complaints?Nestor and Zimonjic are possibly suffering a little as a result of a very unusually long doubles match against M&M,although still an even better win than against Clement and Mahut if they pull it off.
Pretty good win for Flemski against Clement/Mahut and it was vital that they managed to get that 4th set on the tiebreak, as if they had lost it, the Frenchies would certainly have gone on to win the match, and they were definately helped by the fact that the first set was played when Mahut was not at his best physically a couple of days ago.
Probably will have to step up a level against the Bryans, but they are capable of beating them if they play to their best and the Bryans are a step below their bests.
At least they got a win against very tricky first round opponents and should get their ranking up a little bit more and closer to the stage where they will be seeded in the slams.
Great effort by Eaton/Inglot to push Nestor/Zimonjic this close and be on the verge of beating them. Perhaps the top seeds are not at their best, but considering they lost 6-2, 6-0 to Sa and Cilic a couple of weeks ago, this a vastly improved performance.
