BIGGEST SHOCKS SO FAR (90:10 or more extreme, all in R1)
- Fognini 1% beating Verdasco 99% then reaching R3 despite just 2 entrants picking him to do so - Mayer 1% beating Cilic 99% then reaching R3 despite not having been picked to get that far by any of us - Istomin 10% beating Stani 90% - Przysiezny 1% beating Ljubo 99% - Lacko 4% beating Baggy 96%
Plus a special mention to Daniel Brands, who upset both Andreev and Davydenko to reach R3 as a 2% pick.
Oh no. Even Dependable Stan goes down! And Davydenko, I think was in my semi-finals!

Looks like Isner is feeling the effects ! He's 4-0 in the first set. Don't mind that since I have Youzny to beat him in the next round
That'll be the Youzhny who managed to out-muppet the deputy head GEM (PHM) after being 2 sets to 1 up and then a break up in the 5th.
And that'll be the match that, when I came to pick for, I remembered the standard PHM grass-reaction-phrase... as in, "Oh no, it's the green stuff, I'd better lose in the first round." *shakes fist* Damn you, PHM, and the same to Youzhny!

LOL no (well apart from me having to have a lie down to get over the shock!) - even if I was that naughty, it would need both Hanescu and Istomin to win to knock me off the top before the end of the day.
Talking of which, that muppet Berdbrain seems to be doing his best to hand Istomin a 2 sets to 1 lead after serving for the 3rd set.

Speaking of Hanescu... He chose to retire at 0-3 down in the fifth... but it looks like he might also be in trouble as well for some sort of altercation with a spectator which ended up in Hanescu spitting at the spectator - BBC examined a slow-mo close up angle and apparently there can be no mistaking that Hanescu did it.

Hanescu acted like an absolute douche in that match. Apparently purposely foot faulting four times on second serves to give Brands a 3-0 lead. APPARENTLY.
If that's true, no wonder they're investigating it. Silly bastard.
Yes. I stress "apparently" for the time being since Hanescu has not yet been called up on anything. The BBC footage seemed rather clear though. The BBC didn't have any comment about any purported deliberate foot faulting.
I expect there will be consequences. Of course nothing reported yet as it was only a short while ago.

Be surprised if there wasn't some kind of punishment for Hanescu after this. He obviously was affected by the crowd and in the first video you can here someone call out "you're weak" as he is about to serve, but also partly it's because he served for the match and blew at least 3 match points in the 3rd set.
That explains a few things. On the BBC highlights show they showed the handshake at the net and then a very short clip of footage of the spitting - but nobody seemed to have any idea what caused this behaviour.
I have no idea why a few people in the crowd decided to heckle Hanescu, but I'm surprised that Wimbledon security didn't remove them.
It's unacceptable that Hanescu decided to retaliate by spitting at them, no matter what the provocation, and I agree with FD that it seems likely some penalty will be imposed on Hanescu.

I'm perplexed by that footage. Victor seemed to be physically OK, yes he was getting some undue heckling from a WIMBLEDON crowd (seriously? It's not RG?), but seriously, rise above it dude.
