So how many people thought we see a straight sets win for Lisa? Those points, when added should put her into the Top 350.
I did because Peers is way overranked at the moment and was a very late entry last night so had little preparation time, my only concern was Lisa's average form on grass so far this season.

Peers had reached the Mildura 25K Final on grass beating one of the pesky Pliskova twins on the way, so I wasn't expecting Lisa to win. Fantastic that she has

Lisa Whybourn's QR2 opponent will be Anna Floris (ITA) WR 150, who has just won a "you have it ... no, you have it ... no, I insist you win ... no, you've got to win" type match against Mona Barthel.
As far as I can tell, this was Floris's first ever proper match on grass at senior or junior level and she had come into Wimby Q on a 6-match losing streak.
On the other hand, Floris is on a 10-match Brit-bashing streak stretching back 10 years to 2000, when Lorna Woodroffe beat her in Hatfield, and she convincingly beat Katie 1 & 4 in Monzon.

I kind of had hopes for eeking out 3 winners but probably as David said before the matches started 2 was moe realistic. Remember apart from Cav all the rest owed their appearances on WCs with most miles away from getting in without a WC and whilst yes some such as Anna are on the up the fact remains only Cav is here by right. It was generally a tough ask.
In fact Emily and Lucy appear to have performed nobly and noone appears to have been really outclassed.
The thing about Q1 at a Grand Slam it is such a biggee ranking points wise ( arguably ridiculously so and that's been discussed before ) that you have to be feel really sorry for someone like EWS that was so close to reaching Q2 and the 40 points that in themselves would have raised her about 80 places in the rankings to around 360. Hopefully though she may be able to build on some of her more recent performances
So Lisa it is that really gets the big 40 points benefit which by itself will take her up about 70 places to a huge CH of around WR 340. That's a good win and it's pleasing to see she doesn't appear to have been set back by some big losses recently and has just learned from them as she said she would.
Cav also defends most of her 50 points from reaching FQR last year and that is of course one real benefit of opting for qualifying when she could have got a MD WC and just got a stinker first up.
Would be really great if they each won again and we had a Lisa v Cav battle for a place in the main draw
