Baptism of fire for Lucy but could have been far worse. UGH. Poor Em. Anna's draw could have been nicer but here's hoping Lucic is having an off day. But HELL, what a crappy section to be in either way. Mayr (BOOOOOOOOOOO) and Krajicek. AS IF.
Cav should be reasonably pleased with her draw, giving her a good chance of defending her points, and a realistic chance of qualifying - though Camerin has had some good performances on grass. Tsurenko beat her narrowly in Sweden, but hasn't played a senior match on grass. Realistically I'd settle for 2 in round 2 (Cav & one other)
wait a second...im a little confused...why did Naomi C not get a Wimbledon WC? i had just assumed she did (thus had been complaining only about Naomi B not getting one)
I suspect the 60 ranking points for qualifying are a big reason, coupled with the fact she has already experienced the main draw and is prepared to take the risk of not being there. No idea apart from that.
Apart from what's been mentioned Naomi may have felt psychologically more comfortable going through qualifying. If she qualifies then she will be there on merit, and that may help to break her Wimbledon main draw duck - some WC recipients in the past have admitted that they didn't feel they belonged or deserved to be there.
Tomorrow's oop
Lisa 2nd on 12 Lucy 1st on 13 Em 1st on 14 Jos 1st on 15 Naomi C 1st on 16 Naomi B 3rd on 16 Anna 4th on 16
According to a very knowledgable poster on TennisForum Camerin has now been moved into the main draw, so there may be changes affecting both Naomi's potential FQR opponent and Jos's first round opponent - Niculescu is in line to become the 25th seed, so Jos may face an alternate

Erakovic reached R3 in Birmingham last week and has a career high of WR 49, which she reached in 2008. She was out wth injury for much of 2009 and had a bad run after coming back but seems to be coming back into form, unfortunately. Her best performance at a slam was reaching R3 at Wimbledon in 2008, the first kiwi to manage that for 20 years.
QR1: (WC) Lucy Brown UNR v (q17) Shenay Perry (USA) WR 123
Perry reached a CH of WR 40 in 2006, the year she reached the last 16 at Wimbledon, and she beat Mel South on the way to qualifying for the AO this year.
1st on C14 & 2nd on C12, winners to play each other. Other seed in section: (q5) Shuai Zhang (CHN) WR 110
QR1: (WC) Anna Smith WR 265 v Mirjana Lucic (CRO) WR 181
Lucic, reached the Wimbledon semi-finals 11 years ago and hit a career high of 32 the year before that aged 16. Various problems forced her to take many years ought in the last decade but she is now in the middle of making a comeback and, ominously, she beat Anna 2 & 3 in a 25K in Florida last year.
4th on C16 - seeds in section: (q8) Patricia Mayr (AUT) WR 109 & (q13) Michaela Krajicek WR 121
QR1: (WC) Naomi Broady WR 208 v Nikola Hofmanova (AUT) WR 194
Hofmanova has never played in the main draw of a slam and lost to Katie O'Brien in 3 sets in Nottingham, though she beat Naomi Cavaday in Istanbul and Almaty last year, suggesting that the other Naomi is going to have a tough task if she wants to ick up the 40 points on offer (5 times as many as the men get) for reaching QR2. 3rd on C16 - seeds in section: (q14) Stephanie Dubois (CAN) WR 125 & (q9) Sophie Ferguson (AUS) WR 119
QR1: (WC) Jocelyn Rae WR 494 v Monica Niculescu (ROU) WR 139
Niculescu reached a CH of 47 in 2008, the year she won a round in the main draw at Wimbledon. She lost the Final of the Karkow 100K+H to Anne K that year but has since beaten Katie O'Brien in straight sets twice. 1st on C15 - seeds in section: (q19) Kathrin Wörle (GER) WR 134 & (q10) Ekaterina Bychkova (RUS) WR 117
QR1: (WC) Lisa Whybourn WR 410 v Sally Peers (AUS) WR 209
Peers, who just turned 19, is the Aussie who went on that doubles run with Laura at the AO. She reached the Final of the Mildura 25K grass court event in Australia earlier this year, but her win against Danielle Brown in that event was her only win against a Brit in 5 attempts after suffering losses to Bally, Brown (again), Webley-Smith and Windley, though the latter came when she was just 17. 2nd on C12 - seeds in section: (q11) Maria Elena Camerin (ITA) WR 120 & see below.
