Stosur is very much a polished Bally in some respects; the big serve/forehand being the main weapons.
The big difference was confidence in the end. Stosur hit her stride and didnt look back, with Bally looking overwhelmed and out her depth. Stosur also has far better volleys, though was not amazing at net today. She also reads the play very well.
Ballys backhand, however, seemed somewhat more potent for large parts of the match. All in all, good for Bally to take a set because the match could have quite easily been the last 2 sets without the first as compensation.
Lets not forget she just took a set of a top tenner coming off the back of a GS final. No shame in the slightest and I see Stosur making the second week of Wimbledon comfortably.
Pity it all slipped away so decisively in the last 2 sets. I'd like to think that'll make her more determined but don't think much changes Bally being determined anyway
If it's given her just one or two things to think about and work on that weren't functioning there though then that will be something.
Note that Azarenka has just beaten Clijsters putting Heather's performance in much better light. No shame for Bally, playing so much better than last year and now able to compete with these top players if not beat them.
