Azarenka, when on, is an incredible player. She has had Serena on the ropes a couple of times when Serena has been playing very well. Her ranking is out of the top 10 but she is still top 10 quality in my eyes
Well said, murray.
Azarnka is capable of and has certainly quite a number of times steamrollered players much better than Heather yet is. She may at times not have been a her best in recent times, but she's still got some pretty impressive results and has proved what she can do many times. Just even this year's activity results are a big class above Heather. Heather is progressing really well, but realistically we should still expect a fair gap.
Yes, I hoped for a closer match, and still think it should have been on Centre. But the bookies to my mind were possibly even being generous to Heather.
But with the score only to go on, I'm not going to necessarily come down hard at all on Heather and imagine she was having some nightmare. She could play pretty well for her at this stage and lose heavily to Azarenka on set scores. One or two folk here are sometimes just a bit too fickle, see only a score and read great or awful performances in, turning points etc ( and to some extent I understand it since we want the best for them ).
My guess was on the day she was simply outplayed by a still much better player and doubt we need to be looking for much more. Though be interesting to hear Heather's thoughts and if there was any injury issue.
Shes had a really great week overall But remember guys, still a long way to go.
