The Azarenka matchup isn't a complete nightmare either. Azarenka has been going through a difficult patch. With the crowd behind her and surely on centre court I can't see why Heather can't at least give her a game. Either way a great experience.

I would agree with that. Azarenka isnt much older than Heather so I dont think will totally out-experience Heather and a younger opponenet lowers the fear factor in my eyes. Azarenka has certainly struggled this year and her ranking has dropped, so if Heather can keep her momentum going Vika may get worried.
Heather seems like the most mentally together of all the Brits, though maybe the new Bally pushes her close - I love the way they both enjoy it so much and how they appreciate where they've got to and the opportunities their hard work is giving them.

What the hell's been going on in Eastbourne today? Wozniacki (1) beaten in three by Rezaï, Schiavone (2) in two by Cirstea, Radwanska (4) also in two by Azarenka & Pennetta (5) in two by the qualifier, Makarova...? Sam Stosur (3) is now the highest seed left in the draw. I'd say the title is between her & Kim Clijsters (5).
We will soon have one in the top 100, 3 in the next 100 and 7 in between 200 and 300 with Lisa Whybourn likely to make it 8 before too long. The women's game is developing strength in depth. Things are definitely looking up.

Looking back at Queen's last week as well, it seems there is a new virus affecting seeds.
Lisa enjoys punching above her weight, I certainly wont complain! Would be hugely dissapointed if we didnt get a qualifier out of Lisa / Cavs section, would obviously be amazing if both squared off in FQR and would give Lisa a good argument for a MD WC next year.
I'm particularly impressed with how quickly Lisa seems to have recovered mentally from the two hammerings she took in Nottingham and Birmingham. I wonder if she'd do better against the same two players now. Even if not, she's still come a long way since she was unranked 9 months ago!

"I'm so so happy, I was really happy to get through qualies but I didn't want to stop there. She's a very good player, she also came through three qualifying matches so I knew I'd have to work hard. I was 4-1 up and then it went 4-3, I didn't change my game, she started to play better so I had to step on it and keep it going."
"I love playing in front of a crowd, it's so much fun, especially at home. I just want to get through a few more rounds, the points will be very helpful. I'll try my best, I've got a big player next round, she's very experienced and I'll give it my all. I've just playing so well and its made me really happy, and it shows me that I can compete with these girls. I was just really enjoying it."

I've had a few of the players come up to me and say well done, marion bartoli was one of them and I was shocked that she knew my name. Laura texted me before I went on and after the match saying well done.
