Perhaps not too surprising given how weak last year's draw was and it had to be expected that a few more players would take a chance on coming to the south coast to try and qualify.
The cut for the main draw is slighty higher this year as well which means the likes of DGT, Przy, Kunitsyn and Daniel have to qualify when they may have sneaked in to the main draw (although how many of them were on the alternate list I don't know)
Still only a couple of players playing this who are in Wimbledon qualies though, but that is to be expected.
Onto the Brits chances...
Who knows what shape Bastl is in, but if Willis plays as well as he can, he's got a chance of getting out of what is a weak section of the draw, as DGT isn't up to much on grass, and Lapentti is beatable as well.
Don't see any Brits getting out of section two... will be interesting to see what kind of form Klein is in though.
Slabba and Goodall have found themselves in the toughest section with Kunitsyn and Nishikori and would be surprised if one of them qualified. Should be Nishikori's section to lose but Kunitsyn is beatable if they are at their best.
Could get a qualifier in the bottom section as Daniel is a clown on a grass court and Van der Merwe has not done anything on a grass court, while Inglot, Rice and Fleming are all pretty accomplished on the surface.
I'll be there tomorrow (even though it costs £13... you think with the World Cup on as well, they'd want to reduce the price to try and attract as many casual fans as possible) and tomorrow as well. Still unsure about the week as the entry list has been depleted as there are very few players left who I actually would want to see, while Wimbledon qualies is appealing and probably cheaper, despite being a 2 hour train journey rather than a 5 minute walk away.
i saw that aswell £13, is a bit ridiculous, but if i could probaly would go as i live in eastbourne, 2 mins walk from the action. may go sunday, especially if morgan and nishokori are squaring off

Its possible that if Ward does well here, ie. win a match then Wimbledon might upgrade his QWC to a main draw WC, may well be the LTA looking for an excuse as it were to get another Brit into the Wimbledon main draw and getting a loophole round the 250 criteria.
Further to this I notice that Nishikori is only two spots out of the main draw as it stands so I imagine there is a pretty good chance he may not actually need his WC thus possibly freeing it up for Ward if he wins a match here. Perhaps the LTA trying to appeal to the media and looking for a way to orchestrate giving a WC to a Brit who is able to win a main draw match at an ATP tournament. Or maybe I am being to cynical....
