RE: Week 24 - ATP 250 - AEGON International, Eastbourne

That was a great match to watch today. The cynic in me expected James to crumble many times - as did the commentators - but he held his nerve so well, kept calm when losing all those match points and believed in his ability. Such an encouraging win for James and for his supporters. Thanks and good luck in the QF.

Looks like another afternoon in prospect with no jobs being done. Still, who cares. While British tennis prospers, let the weeds grow!

Flemski see off the likely DC singles combo 6-4 6-2 and play the Brazilians Melo/Soares in the semis

Well done, Col & Ken. smile Pity progress had to be at the expense of Jamie & James, though. cry

Where did you find out about Melo & Soares, David?  The result of their encounter with Benneteau & Llodra should have been generally available long before now, but I can't seem to find it. confuse Did they perchance get a walkover?

P.S.  Many belated congratulations to James on his win over Schüttler. w00t.gif  Since there's now an interview with him on the LTA site, TPTB there can hardly claim ignorance of his achievements this week! evileye

Didn't expect that result from James. Well done lad. If he can keep the belief going tomorrow and play well again then he must have a chance.

It's on the drawsheet - they did get a walkover.

I assure you it wasn't when I checked it just before making that statement in my post!

Excellent result for James.clap.gif I have to admit I wasn't expecting it and so it's even more pleasing. Well done that man. Now for Dolgopolov.

Fully expected Col and Ken to do the business, they are our #1 doubles pair after all. Good to know we have a backup team if needed, though.thumbsup.gif

I see the Daily Telegraph are reporting that for the first time in the 133 year history of the Wimbledon tournament there won't be an Englishman in the draw, and then as an afterthought it mentions the accomplishments of Bally and Wardy at Eastbourne this week.

So why no English representation 133 years ago? Do they mean first time ever?

Yes, Wimbledon started 1877 and Phil does indicate it is first time in Wimbledon history.

Just want to add my congratulations to Wardy. I like his style and attitude, and I think he'll make the top 100 by 2012 - maybe even before that. Good luck to him!
