Am I reading too much into the way he answered the question 'Whats your situation with Wimbledon?' to which he replied 'My situation is Im not playing at the moment' and thinking the at the moment might mean he thinks there is some sort of window of opportunity?
There is still a chance that Ward could play Wimbledon, but for that to happen, one of Kiefer, Kuznetzov, Nishikori, Gabashvilli or Baker would have to withdraw before the main draw is made on Friday, and thus the wild card can be re-allocated to Ward.
He is also isn't yet in the doubles either, but I suspect that Baker and Ward will get the one remaining wild card for that, but as it hasn't been awarded yet, Ward still isn't actually playing at Wimbledon.
Yeh, but you would normally assume that wasnt going to happen so I thought perhaps Nishikoris hip problem might be rumoured to be withdrawal worthy; the players often talk about this kinda thing. I see other people have thought similarly and it would be a great shame for Kei, though if he goes into Wimbledon injured only to retire it will really be a great waste.
Double break for the set - I've seen some of the 1st set and he's playing better than yesterday. Not well enough to trouble a top player, for sure, but easily well enough to give players outside the top 50 something to think about at Wimby. Except, oops ...
