RE: Week 23 - ATP 250 - AEGON Championships, Queen's Club - main draw

Ward gets on the SB at the start of the 2nd, Ginepri not really doing too much, Ward really needs to take advantage of this.

Ward just needs to put pressure on Ginepri's serve, if Ward can just put himself at the net, then Ginepri has to do something.

Greg being reasonably critical of Ward point construction. not coming in enough.

Must be lovely for James to know his coach is passing critical judgement on him from the commentary box. No pressure ...

Actually, while I know it's not saying much, this is a lot better than Wardy's performance here last year.

Interesting discussions during end chage, I know we have heard it all before but "James doesn't come from traditional tennis background, ie middle class family so was unable to get support from LTA" - Now he has progressed thay are only too keen to support him.
That's whats always been wrong with British tennis - don't expect it to change soon!

I dont rate Ginepri at all, Ward has given him most up to now.

3 Bps to Ward

Now Greg's saying "make James pay back his prize money to the LTA if they're funding him" ... I get his point, but ...

I think Boggo would have taken this in straights. Eaton would be doing well here!

So many chances for Ward to just finish at the net, Ginepri hitting with no pace at all from the back. Its in Wards hands whether he loses or wins this match.

Ginepri really isn't doing a lot and this match is there for the taking is James can just up his level a little bit and not be afraid to take some chances.

He seems afraid to step inside the baseline as on some of the break points he has had, if he had stepped in with an attacking shot and then moved to the net, he could have won the point, but ended up losing the rally anyway, and was fortunate that Ginepri double faulted on break point in the end.

Is this a new motivational technique?

Headache time for Davis Cup selection, seeing Baker and Ward on grass.

But I said before and I'll say it again I would always have had that tie on hard courts rather than grass.
