RE: Week 23 - ATP 250 - AEGON Championships, Queen's Club - main draw

GSM :( 6-1 6-4.

In the end, not enough firepower from Jamie as Petchey said.

WC's should go to players suited to the surface, ive always said this, bigger servers will get so many more free points on grass.

would mean Eaton by any chance?

I know JB was disapointing today but hes still what 250 places aboue Eaton and so should be rewarded for that, even if he may have a smaller chance of winning. Eaton has to do more, he cant live off 1 or 2 good weeks per year for ver.

Jamie got better as the match went on, but Istomin never looked in any kind of trouble and you just couldn't see Jamie getting the break back.

His game just isn't really suited to a grass court that much and he doesn't have the power to really hit through players on this surface, which combined with the fact he has not really beat many top players for a long time, perhaps made this result very predictable.

Not quite sure what this does for his hopes of a Wimbledon wild card given that he's outside the top 250 and so technically won't be recommended, and his performance today wasn't impressive enough to suggest that he could do the job at Wimbledon.

But then, if we don't give Baker a wild card, then who will we give them to?

i agree FD not looking as good for Jamie after that, Istomin would be what you'd consider a good draw for Wimby.

Not just Eaton, but Goodall, Inglot, Boggo, A. Ward has a decent serve.

All these can put so much more pressure on players on grass as they will get so many cheaper points. Im not too bothered they are ranked lower as they definitely have a better game than Baker on grass and if you want Brits to win and compete at this level in the grass season these are the ones that can do it.

i do agree to an extend, but JB is still a lot higher than them all (save Boggo, but he's a unique case) and that should be rewarded. Just cause all out events are on grass doesnt mean we should positivily discrimate to such an extent.

Interesting discussion surrounding the Davis Cup and it going to Eastbourne as neither Rusedski or Lloyd had any idea as to how that location was chosen for the tie, and given that it had been decided before Smith was appointed, he obviously didn't have much say in it either.

So it begs the question as to how did the LTA manage to pick Eastbourne for the Davis Cup?

Good to see Harrison making the most of his wild card by losing 6-3, 6-3 to Jesse Levine, a man who hasn't won an ATP match all year, has beaten one top 200 player this year, and not beaten a top 100 player since August.

We've picked to slow court players as WC's, no wonder they're struggling

Wards serve looks a bit erratic and uncontrolled at times.
