RE: Week 22 Challenger - Nottingham (E42,500) - Grass

I know Dent is way off his best, but this is his kind of surface and I hardly dared to believe the Wardinator had a chance here.

And to hold his nerve (well, kind of ... wink) against someone who's been no. 21 in the world and come through a match as tight as that, it's one of the results of the year, fabulous stuff biggrin

What a cracking win in the end! I'll even forgive him for all the BPs and MPs he lost!

At least we don't have another British player playing next who is prone to long tense matches. Oh.

Ha Ha....
I'm hardened to this kind of match, after following Boggo for all these years!!!
Right, lets hope for 2 Alex's in the quarters.

Anyone thinking Wimby Wildcard for The Wardinator. Maybe if he secures a semi final place..................

[Alex Ward]'s just won 5 grass matches on the trot!

Fabulous win for the lad! w00t.gif  Would the 18 points he'll now pick up (3 for actually qualifying & 15 for reaching the quarters) happen to be his biggest-ever points haul to date?

Bozo or Begemann in the QF.  What's to stop him from reaching the semis now? pray.gif

just have to join in the congratulations here. That's massive and especially given that it was his 5th match in the tournament. Exceptionally well done Alex.

Probably Bozo!

Yes to it's the top points haul for Alex.

Rankings: I estimate WR 526 up 87, GB no. 11 up 6, with Eaton & Dr No within his sights.

Unbelievable ! Superb Alex.
When speaking to Leon Smith recently he specificially mentioned Alex as a player he hoped could keep climbing the ranks and to think Dent won a round at RG as well. Hopefully no fluke.
Do I detect the rumblings of a pickup in the GB mens game. I have noticed improvement in the last few weeks, long may it continue.
