Maybe Ward just has Ilhan's number?

Don't worry, my sunscreen is 50+.

Well, now that we have indeed gone ahead 2-0, we could well close out this tie with the dubs. Certainly that's what I'm predicting. I can't see Turkey winning this one.

Well,Leon must have done a good job there though James seems to have been pumped up anyway. Great win and a brilliant start for the lads. Couldn't ask for more. This is just the sort of chance they need to improve our overall Davis Cup potential and I think this team will spur each other on.

Good Luck to Col and Ken tomorrow.

How many ranking points do you get for a win?

It was good to see James give Leon a big hug at the end shows how comfortable they must be

How un-British, that's the sort of thing these foreign teams do  wink.gif

Yes, good to see

A very professional performance by the Brits today and anything other than closing the match out tomorrow will be very disappointing.

Baker played pretty well against Zorlu, but wasn't really tested against a player who was out of his depth, and knew that he was out of his depth. Baker though played a lot better than I was expecting from him, so his run to the final of the futures has done him the world of good.

Ward played excellently, if you ignore the period from 5-3 in the third set to the start of the 4th where he couldn't buy a first serve and couldn't put a second serve return even close to the court. He served really well otherwise and put Ilhan under lots of pressure on the return which meant he never had a cheap service game.

Not quite sure how Ilhan is ranked that high on today's effort - could have just been a bad day at the office for him, because not a lot that he tried worked.

Flemski should close the tie out tomorrow, and we can sit back and enjoy the dead rubbers on Sunday.

First test as well of Leon Smith's captaincy and he passes very nicely. Picked the right team for the match and whatever he said to Ward after the 3rd set worked because he put that disaster out of his mind.

James looked to me to be a class above the other 3 in terms of potential.

Ilhan really was living off UEs and that must be encouraging given the ranking gap.

There's something about James that I have thought for a long time that he has the potential to go much higher.  He does seem to have more time on the ball and I can imagine getting to higher levels, much more than I ever have with say Goodall.

I really like Jamie and has long been the player I most followed after Andy, but I reckon there is a limit to how high he can ultimately go and that's well outside the top 100.  He doesn't have enough weapons and much to his credit already gives just about his utmost to be all he can be.  Would just love it if one day he proved me wrong in this.

When I was a lazy pain in the neck schoolboy a teacher said I wish I could give your brains to DG.

He looked delighted until he realised the implication wasn't entirely positive for him.I being big headed but aware of my flaws was delighted with the comment and his dawning displeasure.

Jamie is like him in one way,he really seems to deserve more talent as you know he'd really make the most of it.
