That's a great comeback - breaking after a disastrous end to set 3. Well done James.

Bet365's scoreboard is a little. . . er, odd. It was showing 40-15 to James, then A-15(?????), now back to 40-15, now A-40. . . I feel like I'm going a little crazy. Or they are.

Edit - oh, LOL! now it's showing A-A.  I think I'll just wait until they show who wins the game!

It's a hot one today, that's for sure. Any forecasts for how hot tomorrow? I heard yesterday that 30 degrees Celsius was predicted, but the forecast might've changed closer to the day. I'd better pack my sunscreen for the doubles.

Oh, btw Maddie, James just won that one, breaking Ilhan's serve. He's now up 4-1.

Long game ends with a dodgy dropper from Ilhan and Ward gets the double break back.

I think James took it 6-1 - they switched the score off the moment they showed it.

Lol I have spent all afternoon following a " live" scoreboard. I might at well have paid the £4 and watched Eurosport Player. Ah well, off to do some work now.

Well done lads, we couldn't have a better start.

GSM Ward 6-2 7-5 6-7(0) 6-1

I've been the first to say I am not a fan of Ward in the past, but you have to say that was impressive.

When I saw him play last year he was spraying it around a lot, but he seems to have developed some consistency. That backhand is a real weapon as well, and 21 aces to 4 double faults was a good effort. He didn't come to the net an awful lot, but that is encouraging because he can translate this to other surfaces.

Ilhan was perhaps shown up a but, he seems like the type of player which could who sustain a top 100 ranking for a couple of years through sheer consistency and he does look like a good match player, but just didn't have the weapons today to beat Ward on a grass court.
