Great win for Col & Ken! Creditable effort by H & K. I guess the latters' failure to take their chances, i.e. by squandering the early break in the third & then the 3-0 lead in the subsequent TB, & cause a major upset can be attributed to the difference between a great (& long-established) partnership & a competent one! Had they not been playing the second seeds, who knows what might have happened...? Still, well done to both pairs for putting in a decent shift, especially Flemski.
Just noticed that we have a representative in the mixed after all: Ross Hutchins & the young Russian, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, are in as alternates for Flavia Pennetta & Dusan Vemic. Only trouble is, they play the fifth (apparently promoted from sixth!) seeds, Alisa Kleybanova & Max Mirnyi (RUS/BLR), seeds in the fifth & final match on Court 16 today. Here's hoping Ross can make up for his disappointment in the men's doubles...
Lost the MTB 8-10. Shame they gave it a good go, but another disappointment for Ross this week. Both close matches.
Col and Ken first up on court 7 tomorrow. Fingers crossed they can come up with the goods and get past the 4th seeds. Won't be easy, but...Perhaps it'll be a memorable day with a singles win and doubles win.

Yes, definitely another creditable performance by Ross (& partner), but what a shame that he & Pav were unable to get across the finishing line this time. Was bitterly disappointed to come home earlier & see that result. So near & yet so far - again...! It is perhaps a measure of his & Jordan's achievement in taking their match against the men's second seeds to the wire that the latter brushed aside Greul & Luczak today by 1 & 4 to reach the last 16.
