Nicola has received a WC into next weeks main draw in the US $10K, so another win this week or a win in R1 next week should see her onto the T25 table.
Suomalainen is well known on the GB ITF circuit and her career H2H v Brits in singles is 28-14, including a lost to Naomi Broady but wins against Hope Johnson, Daneika Borthwick and (in 3 sets) Lisa Whybourn in 2009.
Almost all the GB victories against Suomalainen in the last few years have been by girls who are (now) in the GB top 10 (i.e. Stoop, Broady and above), so this one could well be even tougher than the match against the no. 3 seed.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
I saw her at the Bath $10K where I think she played doubles with Hope Johnson. At the time I thought that was a strange combo. I wonder if she trains in the UK?
