Last year Bally got through two rounds of qualifying, Katie one, Mel very nearly won her first round match, Anne reached the semi finals of WTA premier event on clay.

Naomi has struggled in the Far East.

So yes obviously the expectations for this part of the season are not as high but still the girls have performed below those lower expectations.

So yes obviously the expectations for this part of the season are not as high but still the girls have performed below those lower expectations.


I'm not surprised at the French results. The rest of the world has been playing clay tournaments for the last couple of months, but all of our top girls avoided it, playing hardcourt tournaments until the last possible moment, so they are nowhere near as well prepared as their opposition.

The far east tournaments, on the other hand, I was expecting more from. The draws haven't exactly been kind and some of them have been played in very high winds adding an element of randomness, but they are still disappointing results.
